Elmer the Kitten rescued from A BUCKET OF GLUE!?!?!?

Found this article on the Washington Post, may be behind a paywall so I'll quote some excerpts from the article.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2026/05/03/elmer-cat-glue-rescue-adoption/

Veterinarians had little time to question how the kitten who was rushed to their animal shelter had become covered in white glue. The adhesive had hardened around the cat’s eyes and mouth, restricting his ability to breathe, eat and drink. The kitten would have probably died without prompt treatment.

The medical team at the Humane Society of North Texas tried — and failed — to clean the cat with olive oil and dish soap. However, veterinarians were able to remove the glue while soaking the kitten in nearly two gallons of canola oil.
. . .
. . .
The last bits of dried glue — on Elmer’s left leg — were removed in late April. On Wednesday, Elmer, who weighs about 2½ pounds, found his new home with a woman who had fostered him while he recovered.

Leah Owens, 72, said Elmer comforted her after her husband, Roger, died in October from multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.

Whoever put him there is in the same category with the pe4rson who did this:

And thank goodness Maude, too, was found in time and her puppy suffered no harm. She and baby have been adopted together. There is a special place in hell for people who hurt animals. Should be on earth, too, but laws are too lax here, just like child abuse laws.

he was deliberately placed in the bucket (unless the article has info stating otherwise). The way kittens like to climb around and explore it doesn't seem far fetched at all that he could have fallen in by himself.

I wonder if she is from Fort Worth.

I’m glad that the Humane Society were able to treat Elmer. May the deranged people find themselves in a similar situation, since they disregard life to the extent that they would do that to a sweet little kitten.

Hopefully they didn’t have other kittens to abuse so badly.
