Donald Trump said on Saturday he was going to review a new peace proposal from Tehran but cast doubt over its prospects, saying Iran had not yet paid a big enough price.
Two semiofficial Iranian news outlets, Tasnim and Fars, believed to be close to Irans paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, said Iran had sent the US a new 14-point proposal via Pakistan.
Ill let you know about it later, Trump said of the proposal on Saturday, before boarding Air Force One, adding that theyre going to give me the exact wording now.
Shortly after speaking to reporters, Trump posted on social media about the new proposal, saying he cant imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.

(7,160 posts)but very few Americans are aware enough of what is going on to be able to call him out on it. And our stupid media sits there and has no clue.

(61,071 posts)It might be that the current situation is more unacceptable to the US and world than to Iran.
Until the Strait is open, getting oil, gas, fertilizer out of that area is difficult and very costly. I expect in the future an Iranian threat to close the Strait could be as strong as the threat to develop and use a nuclear weapon.
Apparently, the supposed author of the art of the deal has very little understanding of diplomacy and unfortunately is too egotistical to see that.
What he likely does see is that agreeing to end the blockade and Iran opening the Strait means we are back to where we were before he started the war. Obviously we have killed their leaders and many others and caused great destruction, but no great victory of the type he wants.
