Three-judge panel to hear LA Congressional Election lawsuit

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A federal three-judge panel has been convened to hear a lawsuit challenging Louisiana’s suspension of the state’s U.S. House primary elections.

In an order signed Friday afternoon, May 1, Fifth Circuit Chief Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod granted plaintiffs’ request to constitute a three-judge court under 28 U.S.C. § 2284.

The panel will include Fifth Circuit Judge Stuart Kyle Duncan, Chief U.S. District Judge Shelly D. Dick (Middle District of Louisiana), and U.S. District Judge Greg G. Guidry (Eastern District of Louisiana).

The order says the designation is “without prejudice” to any jurisdictional issues that may be considered later, and it does not set a time or date for a decision.
