MAGA is paying the price for Trump's aggression. The backlash is beginning

Few professions have been as reliably supportive of Donald Trump as farmers, and few US states voted for him by a greater margin than Mississippi. But now agricultural workers in the southern Republican stronghold say they are suffering from the effects of the US President’s war on Iran.

“There are going to be a lot of people going out of business,” Sledge Taylor, a 73-year-old Trump supporter, told media nonprofit More Perfect Union this week. “This is going to be the nail in the coffin for a lot of farmers.”

US farmers report that diesel costs have shot up by 60 per cent and nitrogen fertiliser by almost 50 per cent since the start of the war, before the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz shut down a vital shipping lane for energy and other commodities.

The national average of gasoline prices hit a four-year high of $4.23 (£3.14) on Wednesday, a 40 per cent surge on pre-war prices, according to the AAA motor club.

There’s going to be a lot of people in red states either staying home or voting Democratic for the first time in November.

And if you are lucky, they might let you work there for 7 bucks an hour, no benefits.

That's how you make America great again!
