What is Donald Trump's approval rating? Poll gives Dems midterm edge

The midterms are just over six months away, and polling numbers continue to spell trouble for Republicans.

President Donald Trump's approval ratings have hit some new lows over recent weeks. A Reuters/Ipsos poll out April 28 found just 34% of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing, the lowest of this term per the pollster. The midterm is often seen as a referendum on the party in power, and Republicans, including Trump, hope to hold onto power in Congress.

But an Emerson College Polling national survey released April 29 found Democrats had a 10-point advantage on the generic congressional ballot. (Poll was conducted April 24-26 among 1,000 likely U.S. voters with a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.)

So what is Trump's approval rating? Here is what to know:

A 10 point lead in the generic ballot isn't an "edge" Fiendish Thingy Friday #1

It’s a chainsaw, a sledgehammer.

IIRC, in 2018 Dems had a 6 point lead in the generic ballot poll and picked up 40 seats in the house.

It’s going to be a bloodbath, despite gerrymandering.
