The significance of May Day

It was drummed into us kids by Dad; a working person should NEVER vote right wing. He spoke often of the principles behind the system of eight hours work, eight hours sleep and eight hours relaxation.

That tenet has survived, mostly unchanged in our arbitration system although the 40 week is officially 37.5 - which was a win for workers.

This is from the ACTU (Australian Council of Trade Unions), peak body for workers' rights. Let's celebrate May Day and support our working brothers and sisters worldwide.

Then, when I was older in the working world as a Union member, I learned it was an International Workers Rights Day and learned the importance of the history it honored. I wish it was taught in schools because the sacrifices made make the workplace a much better environment

It’s been a long time since I was any good with French, though. I did find this:

Believe this or not, but I have an indirect connection to Lulu; she is the niece of my uncle by marriage. Six degrees eh?

In protest, we are refusing to interact with corporate entities……we are taking this day off and not spending one dime. Grab a good book or treat the family to an impromptu picnic.

Peace ☮️
