Same reason why he wears loose suits and long ties. Thinks that loose suits hide the fat and that long ties make people take a more vertical than horizontal look at him.

It's hilariously ironic, because dressing like that just makes him look sloppy and schlumpy. Serves him right!

Trump's tailor probably makes his clothing with panels to hide the girth while attempting to keep the lines as sleek as possible, but Trump is squishy, making that all but impossible.

Saturday night was "black tie" and he was wearing a tuxedo. Trump does not look good in either style, but the tailcoat really highlights what an oversized slob he is. The style can be unforgiving.

I don't think Trump is built for one of these....I don't know if you could come up with one that looks good on his build. Heck, Obama almost looks too thin for the thing.
