Trump: Iran has agreed to never close the strait of Hormuz again. It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Two days ago might as well be two years ago in this cycle of insanity that we are being sucked into. But imagine if the corporate media called him on this. Held him accountable. Demanded answers. Did not let up and supported each other by following up on each other's questions instead of allowing themselves to be pitted against each other.
Seriously, this has already happened many times. How many more times will he declare victory with nothing to back it up, be proven wrong, and then make the same claim without being held accountable?
If nothing else, aren't people getting bored? It's not even good reality TV anymore.

(7,939 posts)"Trump says the USA and Iran have reached an agreement!"
12 Hours later: "Iran says no such deal has been reached."
Trump then quickly rants about "Fake News" and at the same Iranians would face serious consequences if they don't accept a deal."
And not ONE news organization or even an individual corporate media reporter will say," the President lied about reachning an agreement" This is why Trump gets away with lying like no other president in history.
In private, the press will admit they are afraid of Trump, but moreover, they fear being denied "access".
My question is access to what? Habitual lies that you're not allowed to question?

(421 posts)the yo-yoing markets with all the deal/no deal, open Strait/closed Strait, so far with very little coverage in the press. I remember when Hunter Biden was a major story across the networks.

(4,429 posts)Saturday and Sunday: Post some outrageous shit that drives down market futures and spikes oil prices.
Monday and Tuesday: Profit on his shorts and sell off of oil.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: Conduct drip campaign posts that sound moderating toward Iran, make markets behave irrationally positive to profit on stock gains. Buy oil at its lower price.

(2,988 posts)The markets aren't going to object, because they make lots of money on volatility. The MAGAT's don't care about facts and truth, if he says it, it is so - end of discussion. No one else is going to support him just because he tells the truth anyway so what's the incentive.

(17,860 posts)For someone like him, becoming the most powerful man in the world is the worst thing that could've happened to him and the rest of the world. He was always a horrible person. He associated closely with vermin like Jeffrey Epstein and Roy Cohn. And after being under their tutelage, he went on to molest children and rape at least one woman in a department store. He started a fake charity and fake university. Those are just a few of his crimes, and he's never really had to pay for anything he's done. So after all of that, he manages to get elected President twice. He's crazy and he thinks he's untouchable. Bad combination.

(1,815 posts)The press just started actually making stuff up like His Arrogance does hed have to eventually tell the Truth about SOMETHING in his rush to discredit them.
His relationship to the Press is classic GIGO: Garbage In
Garbage Out.
Lie is a Noun
Also a Verb.
Do you realize that the word Lie is NEVER spoken by Polite Company, yet the word Fuck is thrown around by women, and men, in Congress and the President publishes it on his vanity card practically every day. One more thing they have ruined, a word that rallied demonstrations and a face-off between Mario Savio and S I Hiyakawa and defended Freedom of Speech for ALL of us.
Everything they touch dies.

(19,499 posts)They are a bunch of slavering servant/slaves for Trump now.
The playing field is not level, to an extreme degree. That doesn't get enough attention.

(13,524 posts)Today, they write opinion pieces just saying they disagree with his policies. Not one demand for him to step down for his illegal wars, the extrajudicial killings of people in boats who may or may not be drug runners, or for his corrupt profiting by selling US power and foreign policy in return for real estate deals. We need front-page headlines demanding his impeachment. Trump is a much bigger criminal and more blatant about it than Nixon ever was, and yet Nixon was held accountable, though Ford should not have pardoned him.

(7,848 posts)or voted into office from now on. Unless we really do clean house of all the hidden and deeply seeded repugs in all departments and offices of the government, we'll never have a peaceful Democratic administration again. I don't know how we get around this other than throwing out the chaff and calling out the media each and every time (and maybe actually getting rid of the propaganda stations like Fox and NewsMax)... but it sure isn't going to be easy and we'll be called every dirty name in the book as we try to clean things up back to civil decency level.

(5,461 posts)And now I read Iranian Stance: Iran's chief negotiator and parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that while there has been "deeper understanding," significant gaps remain on core issues like nuclear enrichment and the naval blockade. Following Trump's announcement, Iranian state media reported that Tehran currently has no plans to participate in this next round.
After briefly reopening the strait on Friday, Iran reclosed it on Saturday. Iranian officials stated the waterway will remain restricted to international tankers as long as the U.S. Navy maintains its blockade on Iranian ports.

(22,442 posts)Get Epstein off the front page. He's got to get them to give up the enriched material or the war is a bust. The blockade gives leverage, maybe. Maybe not. Regardless, Iran would be stupid to do so given recent events and knowing full well that the means to go in and take it aren't politically viable in the US. A classic impasse. But the fact that jet fuel, and a host of other things, are getting very short may break the impasse. Or not.
Only god, if she's out there, knows where this is going. In the mean time, more crippling fuel prices driving us and much of the rest of the world into recession. Gas ain't getting cheaper for a good while even if this ended today. One painful lesson from covid. Supply chains don't operate on an on / off switch.
