Loved Dan Rather’s work for years.

Anybody remember that Nixon White House news conference during which Dan Rather asked a very pointed question. Nixon was getting annoyed by then and snapped at Dan Rather with “are you running for something?” And Dan Rather didn’t miss a beat. “No, sir. Are you?”

Shit, I still remember that AND how almost electrified I felt at that moment. NOBODY had ever even slightly dared to talk back to The President before that. But the walls were really starting to close in on Nixon, and anybody would be right to guess it was starting to get to him.

Way before I was old enough to pursue a career, I still remember feeling like “um… SOMETHING REALLY SERIOUS is happening here…” regarding then-President Nixon.

This is the longest run I have seen. Is this mandatory in America now? Does DU’s TOS “violate the first amendment!!!!!”.

I “predict” you will make a lot of new friends and change hearts and minds with your scintillating one-liners converting all!

And with all the craziness these days wrt the present admin (like Voldemort I am not naming the worst at the moment thanks to the increasing shittiness of the web), sometimes you wonder if the US is behind the nouveau Iron Curtain and whether Dave has to allow some crackpots in mandatorily. The whole thing is like a damn social experiment. That would be rather bleak.

I myself default to brute force “No” and refusal to comply with drivel mostly as it encourages human jerks to force one to change one’s behaviors to adjust to their rot.

Otoh minimal temporary forebearance may be unavoidable some thanks to just how much they have gummed up the works.

Goddamn idiots causing polycrises after poly crises with their wet markets, wetware markets etc. My position was and remains that vaccines are inadequate, wet markets/factory farms should be banned. They are cruel and a health hazard. And that extends to these technologies.
