...and I think republicans are running scared.

There's no big machine, just the gaslighting that worked the last presidential election. I do wonder if we're all done with that diversion subversion, though.

I thought folks here might find it nice to find optimism and fight behind our party, instead of threads encouraging angst about Democrats which inflate republican future chances.

Handwringing is more popular. I never would have believed this dynamic until I saw the effect of the gaslighting in the past elections that divided voters from Democrats. Much of it coming from people professed to be concerned about Democrats' future.

Shitty that I'm sitting here writing this, essentially, to myself.

What do people think support is? It's not spending effort promoting the worst of projections about our party and inviting others to do the same. Sure as shit about that.

Just rolled a few logs to the back of the yard from a tree I cut down with my son. Despite being isolated here by my anxiety about ICE, I'm still mostly advocating on behalf of people who don't have it as good as my simple life provides me.

Would be nice to have more support in that effort, but something just turns my advocacy for Democrats into an argument, regarded as anathema to suppposed CW about 'Dems bad' and I think that's a damn shame.

Especially since the concern is about messaging, with zero self awareness of the drag of all of the 'replace this Dem leader or the other' like subtraction was a smarter strategy than addition for a minority party.

People think they're pissed. I spend all of my political effort supporting Democrats and opposing republicans. Have done so without fail for over 40 years.

But some think it's a brilliant idea to fuck around and shuffle the deck in the middle of the game. What genius though that up and sold it to people? Where is that person now that we're under the boot of the opposition they couldn't be bothered to show up to oppose?

Where? They right where they were when they convinced Dems to abandon their successful incumbent president; and to drag the eventual nominee like they had good sense.

Why do these same people have the temerity to come back in our faces with Dem dragging bull about 'messaging', as if THEY needed convincing to vote Democratic; or as if there wasn't a republican party right there ready to own or end us.

No, they take their foot off of republicans' backs and start kicking Democrats around who've already fought and WON against republicans because they said or didn't say something or the other.

They've taken our eye off of the ball, and are pretending as if there's something wrong with the only political coalition that is firmly focused on the people; and puff up republicans as if they're inviolable; all the while refusing to show up and advocate or vote against them because 'Dem leader bad' or some other invented inanity.

When do we start defending the people we elected into office. When do we start defending and promoting OUR party? Or is the only function of a Dem voter to carp and criticize our own elected members of Congress?

Why do people who spend their time doing this get so much attention from those who profess to want an effective party? How do you get there without a majority; and how do you get a majority by tearing at your own party for everyone to see and feel?

When does the support for Democrats come from Democrats?

Fuck it. Closing this. Looks like a good garden year. Hope I find more time (and desire) to advocate for the party this season. Hoping to find more people doing that here.

Essentially, anarchists dominated the messaging last presidential election...

But your point is taken all the same.

I think we'll see a massive D takeover in the midterms. (We know the GOPers are certainly expecting it.) But that's where could get exciting. For so long we've seen the work of getting majorities as a means to an end, but I think the modern climate has changed. The struggle between establishment vs progressive policies and lawmakers will only be the beginning, and things might get loud. But that's a good thing!
