There is a simple, legal solution. Every governor who opposes this malignant narcissist attempt to place himself above democracy should respond as follows:
In the state of ___________, We follow the constitution of the United States and it clear states in the Elections Clause, Article I, Section 4 "the Constitution empowers states to determine the Times, Places and Manner of holding federal elections." There are no exceptions for national emergencies or martial law. According, the state of ______________, will be holding elections on November 3rd whether you like it or not!
Boom!

(1,699 posts)If they don't have elections, they have functionally no representation in the House and lose about 20 Senators due to the expiration of their terms. That would hand us majorities in both chambers. During the Civil War the states that tried to secede simply didn't have representation in Congress. In that case they were expelled, but in this case they simply wouldn't be elected so no need to expel them.

(20,846 posts)If there are NO Elections, there is NO GOVERNMENT. We become 50 countries because not every state will comply. Even states that voted for Trump that receive more in Federal monies than they pay out.
States like Wyoming and Alaska may be larger in scope, but the least in population and not able to generate revenue via Taxes. There will be another revolution or Civil War Donny Dipshit had not planned for. We know he doesn't plan ahead. That rotten gut of his is hardly ever correct. Take Iran for example.

(20,846 posts)States like Illinois, Minnesota, California, New York, New Jersey, even Purple Texas, etc., have the means to generate revenues via taxes to support paying for services. But every business operating nation wide, military bases, etc., would be a mess.
The Confederacy lost because only upholding the institution of slavery, but industrially inadequate as well. That might be different today, but much of the southern states still rely on Agriculture for its main revenue source, with tourism a second.
Just my 2 cents worth.

(22,461 posts)I have posted this several times before. I hope you...anybody...takes the time to view it.
It exposes what -- I -- believe to be the root of things today...greed. (I'm always willing accept being wrong)
I believe this race/class/rural-urban/religious/etc shitstirring is more a means than a goal, foisted on us by those that...I can't even come up with the words.
Just today or yesterday "he" said something about how public lands are an economic waste. This isn't about that other stuff...this is about oligarchy and theft and destruction in the pursuit of riches at the expense of everyone else in the world.
Just a few minutes, maybe later sometime, to see if the subject rings true:

I mean he can post on Truth Social that he is, but that will have no effect.

Total, permanent, fascist control.

If Trump announces the elections are cancelled Democratic governors simply wont care.
It could in fact have the impact of severely driving down Republican turnout, since they believe the election is cancelled
Maybe some red states actually follow through and somehow cancel their elections, leading them to send no House members to the new Congress, which would now have insanely large Democratic majorities.
Ironically, cancelling the elections might be the only plausible way Democrats could assemble the sort of majorities that could impeach and remove him.
