The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that U.S. troops are racing to destroy Iran's ballistic and nuclear missile facilities before they run out of interceptors to defend from Iranian retaliatory strikes. The exact size of the military's ammunition base is classified, but analysts and former officials who spoke to The Journal said the stockpile has been diminished after repeated conflicts in the region.
At the same time, military troops are working to fend off a series of retaliatory strikes from the Iranians. U.S. Central Command said on Saturday that they mounted a "largely successful defense against hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks," according to the report.
One of the challenges is you can deplete these really quickly, Kelly Grieco, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center, told The Journal. Were using them faster than we can replace them.
Troops are also running low on sea-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles and aircraft-launched weapons following the operation last year to take out Yemen-based Houthi militants, according to the report.
Eventually it boils down to numbers, Jonathan Conricus, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies told The Journal. How many interceptors will we have versus how many launchers will they be able to field and fire.

(12,939 posts)You go to war with what you have. This GQP movie was playing in 2002. Same disregard for the children that are sent to war. Never their own.
These beasts have the same troop love that Putin has for his troops.
Period! None. Go die for the rich. Rich will hang back here and Hump the Flag as Patriots, and thier Media will grin and cheer, safe in studios. And will continue to steal elections to keep the sequels of that movie coming like Fast and Furious.
With 35 percent approval from idiots.
The Hannity's, Ingrahams, Waters and White Jesus Kellys will have your back and shit eat grin while cheering your death.

(5,185 posts)enough body armor. I also remember communities collecting money to send phone cards to the troops so they could call home. There was a website www.anysoldier .com where you could look up a soldier and send them a care package. They would list items on their wish list. Sometimes there were higher end things like kevlar or electronics but most of the time it was shampoo, women's products, wet wipes, snacks... because there were no or little supplies in the commissary. If I remember correctly, the bush admin had it shut down citing security...

It's a classic hook to lock Congress into approving 'funding for the troops' which is what perpetuated the Iraq military misadventure for two decades, even through a Democratic-controlled House.

(10,927 posts)And we sold 3/4 of all the ones we made to Saudi Arabia- only kept back 25% of the little we made. Sold them instead of giving them to our overseas bases which were super low. Care so little about protecting our troops.

(774 posts)Key inputs such as raw materials (e.g., antimony), propellants like nitrocellulose, and certain specialized electronics are sourced from China. In addition, many components used in U.S. munitionsparticularly electronics and guidance kitsrely on materials that China largely controls. And China will not be helping us out.

US President Donald Trump wants unconditional surrender from Iran, warning there will not be a deal without that.
Massive explosions hit several locations across Iran today as the war enters its seventh day.
Israeli jets have bombed southern and eastern Lebanese towns as well as targeting the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut.
At least 1,332 people have been killed in US and Israeli attacks on Iran since Saturday, and the semi-official Fars News Agency reports that two schools were hit by missiles in the town of Parand, southwest of the capital Tehran.
Iran continued to target Gulf countries from the UAE to Qatar and Bahrain, while Israels Tel Aviv came under combined drone and missile attacks late on Thursday night.

More like US Forces OVER Iran, or US Sailors NEAR Iran.
