I caught a clip of someone laying it out very clearly. The award winning album was done entirely in Spanish.
Why would anyone demand that he do it in English? Would you have made the same demands of Andrea Bocelli or Pavarotti? Should they translate their artistic works to suit crying entitled MAGATs?
It is so absurd.

She said that New Yorkers have always known that Trump is incredibly stupid and they could not believe he was ever elected. She's doing a tour now, and I'd enjoy seeing her in person. Here's the list of cities in case anyone is interested.

I just checked today and some or most national park passes have that "booking photo" (1) on them. How fricking gross!
I'll stick with my Senior Lifetime Pass, which I got for $10 rather than the $80 they jacked up soon thereafter.

I remember an incident in my life. I had just finished an intensive Russian Language program in the USAF and was home on leave just before Christmas. My hometown church choral director asked if I'd sing a solo in the Christmas service. I frequently sang as a bass-baritone there before joining the USAF.
So, I said, "Sure." I talked to the church's organist and asked if she had music for "O Holy Night." Of course she did. So the Saturday before the service, we ran through it a couple of times.
The next day, in my USAF dress uniform, I sang that well-known Christmas song, the first time in English, the second time in the original French, and the third time in my newly learned Russian. I had translated the song into Russian earlier to sing it at the graduation ceremony for the language school.
So, after the service, one of the church's Deacons came up to me and scolded me for singing in a "Communist" language. I laughed in his face, to his surprise. I guess he still thought of me as the high school smartass kid I used to be. Obviously he didn't understand my reasoning in singing a Chrismas song in more than one language. I wish I had sung the Spanish version, as well.
People get angry at things they don't understand.

(1,038 posts)On a flight to Ireland, on Aer Lingus, DH was seated near a woman who initially seemed ok. However, Aer Lingus is an Irish company and, after doing the flight instructions in English, repeats them in Irish.
The woman began emitting explosively loud (audible through the entire plane) huffs and actually asked a flight attendant whether something couldn't be done about this. When nothing was done, she sulked and bitched to her companion for the rest of the long flight.
It actually ruined her entire flight that she was briefly forced to acknowledge that there was another language than English in the world.
I don't know why she didn't stay home. I'm sure the local Holiday Inn would rent her a room for a couple of weeks, and she could probably avoid the service personnel. I know she wouldn't have tipped them.
The 'Ugly American' is a stereotype for a reason.

(8,328 posts)The Bad Bunny performance was marketing to the NFL. The NFL has been playing international games for a few years now. They are doing what BUSINESS does, expanding their market. There are a half a billion Spanish speaking people in the Americas. The NFL doesn't care about "love is stronger than hate", they only see the Latin market as potential consumers of their product. Even if you only get a small % of that population you're still taking about millions of new consumers, consumers of jerseys, streaming services, etc.
It's capitalism boys. How does it taste tiger? It'd be something that during the same year Republicans basically went against their sacrosanct 2nd amendment they abandon the tried and true formula of letting business do whatever the fuck they want. Of course, we all here know the Republic Party only pays lip service to "free markets" while their real goal is to entrench the oligarchs and corporate criminals. Of course as soon as a business does something not approved by the Maggots it's off to do probes, regulate.
2A, states rights and free market are just hollow code words for these vacuous losers.

He ended by shouting God Bless America in English, echoing the United States mantra in an answer to right-wing critics. And then he rejected the idea animating the current U.S. administrations deportation of Black and Brown people with the claim they are not Americans and their culture will undermine American culture.
After saying God Bless America, Bad Bunny listed in Spanish: Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, Antilles, United Statesnot Estados UnidosCanada, and Puerto Rico.
