Fundraising hauls show RNC vastly outpacing Democrats ahead of midterm elections

According to the Associated Press and other news sources, Republicans have an almost $100 million edge over Dems as of the end of 2025.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican National Committee has vastly outpaced Democrats in the crush for cash ahead of the midterm elections, holding a nearly $100 million advantage at the close of 2025, according to year-end filings to the Federal Election Commission.

As Democrats have struggled in the Trump era, the RNC tallied $172 million raised in 2025, with $95 million cash on hand at year’s end. In contrast, the Democratic National Committee posted $145 million for the year, with $14 million on hand — and $17 million in debt, to start the new year underwater.

It’s all pointing to a turbulent election cycle ahead as President Donald Trump fights political headwinds that tend to brush back the party in power, in this case Republican control of the White House and both chambers of Congress, and reward challengers during the midterms.

In the campaigns for control of Congress, the total hauls are less stark. House Republicans posted one of their stronger years, raising $13 million in the last month of the year, to close with more than $117 million for the National Republican Congressional Committee, the main campaign arm. House Democrats trailed slightly at $115 million.

While money isn't everything, it is a huge factor in the ability to get your message to voters and mount an effective campaign.

I confess, my husband and I haven't opened my wallet much this election cycle. Frustration with the infighting in D.C. and not perceiving many electeds in national office as stepping up sufficiently to defend democracy has been a huge factor in my holding off. I've given to pro-democracy organizations but relatively little to campaigns and none to party organizations. A lot less than last year. Now I'm kicking myself.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that's affected Democratic giving everywhere.

But they are losing votes, bigtime, Republicans could raise the most money ever and have no candidate that people want to vote for.

What is an Organized Crime Party to do?

love them some Republicans. After all, they are the party who advocates for paying employees as little as possible and working toward a world where the tax burden is 100% on those who aren't wealthy.

Oh, and no regulations whatsoever on business for anything.

Of course they have more money on hand, the oligarchs are getting everything they've wanted for years.

What we ordinary people can afford to donate is a drop in the bucket...and our drops are becoming smaller as prices of everything rise, seemingly daily.

4. It's not surprising given that we've seen a concerted effort to smear the DNC for almost a decade now.

Smears from Republicans, Russians, and some on the left -- including one of those purported """fighters """ -- that are supposed to be allies yet trash us as much as the first two groups...

In my district, I see folks that have been managing elections for as long as I have been here.....45 years? These folks are not going to be intimidated, there are Democrats and Republicans (in their minds) but respect the idea of voting.

Really. The state of affairs of the party nationally aren't pretty. But quality individuals are stepping up to run and defend democracy. Americans are waking up to the danger and horror of living under a dictatorship.

And for the first time ever, Dems in Texas have candidates running in every race in every county. Wow!

With money management like that, it’s no wonder folks choose to donate to progressive PACs and to the candidates directly.

And why the fundraisers apparently consider the reply of STOP to stand for "Send To Other Politicians".

Overall, the figures, submitted to the Federal Election Commission as part of its year-end filling requirement, show the GOP nationally with a sizable financial advantage, with the Republican National Committee closing out 2025 with just over $95 million cash on hand compared to the Democratic National Committee’s $14 million and $17.5 million in debt and loans owed. But a closer look at the fundraising for each party’s main House and Senate campaign arms and the individual key races expected to decide control of the upper chamber paint a more nuanced picture.

When it comes to the House, where Republicans this November are hoping to hold their very slim majority, the two parties’ campaign arms posted similar figures. The National Republican Congressional Committee brought in about $117 million to end 2025 with more than $50.5 million cash in the bank, according to the FEC, while the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised about $115 million for the year and closed it out with just over $49 million on hand.

On the Senate side, the main campaign arm for Democrats closely trailed its Republican equivalent in money raised but ended the year with a slight advantage in cash on hand. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee raised just under $80 million and closed out the year with more than $21.5 million in the bank. The National Republican Senatorial Committee took in about $88 million and ended 2025 with about $19 million in the bank.

On an individual level, Democratic candidates held edges to start the year in a couple of contests considered key to determining which party controls the lower chamber next year.
