FBI under Kash Patel has become 'internally paralyzed by fear', new report reveals

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/dec/01/fbi-kash-patel-leaked-report

Leaked assessment based on confidential accounts from 24 FBI sources describes organization as a ‘rudderless ship’

The FBI director, Kash Patel, is “in over his head” and leading a “chronically under-performing” agency paralyzed by fear and plummeting morale, according to a scathing 115-page report compiled by a national alliance of retired and active-duty FBI special agents and analysts.

The leaked assessment, obtained by the New York Post and prepared for both congressional Senate and House judiciary committees, is based on confidential accounts from 24 FBI sources.

They accuse Patel of lacking the experience to lead the FBI and that managers will not take initiative without explicit direction for fear of being fired. Patel’s first six months have produced a “troubling picture” of an organization described by insiders as a “rudderless ship”, with two sources independently characterizing the director as being “in over his head”. One stated he “lacks the requisite knowledge or deep understanding of all the FBI’s unique and complex investigative and intelligence programs”.

One key accusation is that the FBI has become “internally paralyzed by fear”. Managers are “afraid of losing their jobs”, and “waiting on directions from the FBI director” rather than taking initiative, according to multiple sources.

He'd be in over his head in any position above scrounging aluminum at the side of the highway.

Destroyed, like every other government agency under Trump's control.

I'll guess that anyone that couldn't say the current peeResident's name without a sneer have been moved to Montana or some other pastureland.

But maybe there were a few RW FBI types who were actually patriotic, actually believed that the Constitution represented the laws of the land. And maybe they are still on-board, helping Patel and Bondi and trump and putin dismantle this country. I wonder how they feel. Or are they sociopaths also?

because of Kash's wholesale destruction of the once finest law enforcement agency in the world, who will be blamed?
What a dumb question, of course it will be Pres. Biden's fault, can't have Pedonald being blamed for this.

Honestly. What are his qualifications for a job of this magnitude? He's a two-bit troll at best, with minor experience here and there in some small-time administrative capacity. He left the only job with significant administrative chops (Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence) after a few months: couldn't hack it.

Everybody knows he is vastly unqualified and functionally incapable of doing the job. His principal qualification was that he would insult the FBI publicly for its investigations into Trump and Co.'s various misdeeds. He's been appointed largely for spite. That's all well and good - haha, I guess - but then you don't get a functioning agency. I fully accept that this is what conservative grifters want, but that's the ground truth of it. Kash Patel is deeply incapable of doing the job that he was assigned. If the whole agency is failing and falling apart, it's because he is an incompetent.
