Trump's approval rating hits second-term low as Republican support dips

President Donald Trump continues to see his approval rating drop – with a new Gallup poll registering the lowest of his second term.

In a Gallup poll conducted from Nov. 3-25, 36% approved of Trump's job performance, down from 41% in October. That approaches Trump's lowest-ever approval rating of 34% in 2021, near the end of his first term after the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot, according to Gallup. Trump's previous low approval rating during his second term, Gallup says, was 37% in July.

Trump's approval rating fell among Republicans and Independents, as well as Democrats. Republicans’ rating is the lowest of Trump’s second term (84%) down from 91%. With Independents, Trump's approval rating fell to 25%, down from 33% in October. Democrats gave Trump an approval rating of 3%, down from 6% the previous month.

After months of relatively stable approval ratings, Trump has seen his ratings drop over the last month or so. It reached a new low of 42.3% on Nov. 14 in the RealClearPolitics Poll Average, as the 43-day government shutdown ended and the controversy on Jeffrey Epstein's emails heated up. Trump's approval rating is currently 42.7% on RealClearPolitics Poll Average.
