Are we now patrolling the airspace all around Venezuela, which would necessitate invading the airspace of Colombia, Brazil and Guyana, and shooting down any aircraft entering Venezuela's airspace? Would that mean that airlines can't even use routes that fly over Venezuela en route to somewhere else? What the actual fuck?

Direct flights by US passenger or cargo carriers to Venezuela have been suspended since 2019, but some US airlines fly over the country for some South American flights. American Airlines said on Friday it had stopped overflying Venezuela in October. their military are well trained and armed by the US military, yes, in the end, they would probably lose a conventional war, but a guerilla war would be a disaster for US forces.

It's a Dutch island that's 50 miles from Venezuela. Aruba and Curacao are just as close. Commercial airliners including American, United, Jet Blue, and KLM all fly there. This. makes me nervous.

Russian militants shot it down and killed over 300 people because they thought it was a Ukrainian military aircraft.

We're risking just the same situation over Venezuela now.

There is absolutely no justification for this level of action. Trump wants to be a "wartime President," because he thinks that will be the best possible distraction.

And as the torpedoed boats demonstrate, he also has American military people who will break international law for him.

I certainly wouldn’t be getting on any aircraft in the region and testing this 😬
