https://www.rawstory.com/trump-2674352186/"Trump's 'One Big, Beautiful Bill' will also jeopardize SNAP benefits for 114,000 people, or roughly one-fifth of recipients, in Kentucky, where work requirements will now expand to roughly 50,000 people aged 54 to 65, along with caregivers whose children are older than 14, starting in early 2026," Clifton explains. "The bill also expanded work requirements for military veterans and people experiencing homelessness effectively pushing many out of a program they rely on to not go hungry."
Thomas Howell, a 25-year-old fast food worker in Martin County, told The Nation, "It sucks, but right now, I don't have my own vehicle and it's pretty much the only work opportunity I have. If I make $170 per week, I consider that a really good week. And I get $110 per month in food stamps. It's pretty much all the food I have unless someone else buys it for me."
Howell voted for Trump in 2020 and 2024 but is now feeling disenchanted with him, lamenting that the president "seemed unwilling to cooperate with any amount of funding when it came to food stamps and just shifted blame toward Democrats."
Howell told The Nation, "I'm truly disappointed in the minimal effort Trump's been giving us poor people. I think most of this country voted for Trump on empty promises, hoping hed give us a better future. But instead, it seems it's going the exact opposite direction. I pray to God I'm wrong."

(3,218 posts)Americans voted for Trump with empty heads, the consequence of their stupidity.
And Trump/Republicans couldnt care less about poor people.

(21,187 posts)The problem is that Republicans aren't saying "We can't keep doing this to Americans and expect to win in the midterms." Rather, they're saying "How can we KEEP DOING THIS to Americans and not lose seats next November?"
They KNOW what it's doing to the country and they DON'T CARE. So, it's up to VOTERS to care, and right now the pity party so many red state voters are throwing for themselves needs to translate into either STAYING HOME or VOTING BLUE.
Because the knife cuts both ways. Democrats never have "VOTES TO SPARE," staying home is NOT a good option. And, every "disappointed" Trump voter who stays home is basically throwing their vote into our column.

(21,187 posts)Then again, the concept of "pacing himself" is foreign to Trump. He's a rotten toddler, a creature of impulse, and he was hell-bent on punishing America for electing Biden in 2020. Giving Musk the keys to the kingdom certainly got him off to a roaring start.

(3,129 posts)That's paraphrased from a quote in a NYT article about (delusional) working-class Trump voters.
Rachel Maddow mentioned it prominently on her show a couple of times.

You just forgot to ask for whom this promised 'better future' is/was intended.

(8,566 posts)So, you simply have nothing to offer him. Why should he care if you don't eat?
His concern for others is purely transactional; it's too bad you couldn't see that.
Now you'll be reminded every day of how little he cares for anything beyond himself.
