...shot those Guardsmen with a .357 Magnum.
Question:
How did a non-citizen refugee, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, get that gun?
If it was a legal buy - then why were the checks missed?

(8 posts)And you see Capital police all over, but its a big city and they can't be everywhere at once. The video I saw showed them on scene fast enough that the one soldier was still being given CPR, so they must have been close by.

(8 posts)I googled if you have to be a citizen to buy a gun and assumed it would say yes but instead it says:
Legal permanent residents (green card holders): Can buy firearms, but must meet residency requirements and all other federal and state laws, and provide their alien/admission number.
Non-immigrant visa holders: Can purchase a firearm if they meet a specific exception outlined in the law. Common exceptions include:
Having a valid hunting license or permit.
Being admitted to the U.S. for lawful hunting or sporting purposes.
Being a foreign law enforcement officer on official duty.
Certain representatives of a foreign government.
Non-immigrant visa holders who have established state residency: Can purchase from an unlicensed person if they are residents of the same state and no other laws prohibit it.
Non-immigrant visa holders who do not meet exceptions: Can purchase a firearm through a licensee for direct export, meaning they cannot take possession of it in the U.S. before it is exported.
