The Guardian: Suspect in Washington DC national guard shooting had ties to CIA, agency confirms

Lakanwal’s ties to the Central Intelligence Agency, which worked alongside US special forces in Afghanistan, were confirmed by the CIA director, John Ratcliffe, to media outlets on Wednesday evening.

The New York Times reported that the shooting suspect had worked for several US government agencies in Afghanistan, including a CIA-backed unit in the southern province of Kandahar, a stronghold of the Taliban.

“The Biden administration justified bringing the alleged shooter to the United States in September 2021 due to his prior work with the US government, including CIA,” Ratcliffe told Fox News digital, adding that Lakanwal’s involvement with the agency was “as a member of a partner force in Kandahar, which ended shortly following the chaotic evacuation”.

CIA Operations is the anus of empire. It goes around the world shitting on poor nations and then the Washington establishment screams in outrage when the shit blows back in its face,

It is horrible what happened to the two National Guard members who shouldn’t have been exposed like that in the first place.
Lakanwal worked with US Forces along with the CIA and I have to imagine he has a shitload of PSTD. He is given asylum because, after working with the US, he fears for his life when the Taliban takes over, immigrates to the US, and then along comes trump saying he was going to send the asylum seekers back to Afghanistan.
I think he just snapped but the administration is going to use this against all immigrants.

In fact the Trump administration granted him ability to stay in April 2025. Giving asylum to people who help us in various wars is standard procedure.

That’s the most likely scenario IMO. If they can speculate, so can I.

the guy probably kept our troops safe.

Let's not confuse what this man did compared to what the CIA top brass did.

Shoot up a couple guardsmen from a conservative state and blame the libs, give us a reason to lock DC down more brutally. I suspected it yesterday when I saw that this administration had finalized his asylum status. Knowing he has CIA ties only deepens my suspicions.

Because this is going to be a sucky Thanksgiving for anyone with MAGA relatives, especially those in the military, when they go on and on with their "Biden let criminals like him in, and he shot brave Guardsmen" talking points BS to justify Trump/MAGA politics.

Doesn't matter that he worked with the CIA and US Military Special Ops and the US owed him asylum when the haphazard withdrawal from Afghanistan was being planned in late 2019 for 2021.

Biden's fault. Democrat's fault. All asylum seekers are criminals and frauds, all immigrants here since Obama on are here illegally and can't be trusted... That's what non-MAGA are hearing from their MAGA.
That's what I've been hearing from self-proclaimed MAGA since last July when mass "criminal" immigration Trump's campaign theme.

And I'm sick of it, because MAGA venom is always immediately directed at anyone who disagrees with their blanket statements or even suggests there's a policy overreach, or, asks what are the facts to their claims and justifications, or maybe just suggesting protecting religious or racial or gender based employment bias, harassment and hate speech shouldn't be acceptable.

However, please understand the vast difference between finding a cause and taking advantage to score points in a situation.
There isn't always a conspiracy theory behind everything that happens, nor are there always one group that causes all the trouble. Both sides don't always do the finger pointing, because frankly, anyone with experience in politics understands there's always more than two agendas in play unless there is a conspiracy or propaganda pushing a narrative - especially when diverse opposition groups are lumped into one overall political spectrum group and blamed for political expediency.

I might jump to conjecture occasionally, but I always try to use the facts I know (not talking points I've heard), as I've always found that the three "P"s inevitably apply whenever there's a violent situation...
Personal, Psychological, or Political.

Your milage may vary, but this situation has more than a little suspicious timing to it, and the consideration of Cui Bono is not unexpected in all the hysteria that's surrounding it.
