I am assuming the White House's false assertion of "the classic holiday feast about 3% cheaper than last year" is based on Trump's HIGHLY MISLEADING high-five to himself over WalMart's meal costing less this year, CONVENIENTLY LEAVING OUT THE FACT that there are FEWER ITEMS in the "meal kit" and they have also substituted WALMART BRAND ITEMS for the previous high-profile brands in the 2024 kit.Newsom's team mockingly called it "Trump's golden era" in their post. It reads, "Welcome to Trump's golden era!" A photo of the Drudge Report headline was also shared. It reads, "A tariff Thanksgiving. Turkey price up 24%. Grim retail sales. Consumer confidence spirals."
Analysis from The Times, which is the link Drudge Report had featured, found the cost of a traditional Thanksgiving meal would set back the average American family $107. This would be an increase of 9% total compared to 2024, and the increase also includes a 24% spike in the cost of a whole turkey.
Despite the reported price hike, the White House released a statement earlier this month claiming Thanksgiving was actually cheaper under the Trump administration than it was during Joe Biden's presidency.
Their statement reads, "President Donald J. Trump promised to crush inflation and lower prices and hes delivering this Thanksgiving, with the classic holiday feast about 3% cheaper than last year."

And, I read a piece yesterday (ABC Chicago, I think) that said the average gas price nationally is exactly the same as last year and 2 cents higher than '23.
I spreadsheet for local price matches that for '24, but it was 1 or 2 cents higher, not lower, than '23.
Either way, the price of gas hasn't improved & that cost caused a lot of whining under Biden.
People voted over eggs & gas, for a guy who said he would lower those prices, and he didn't, and never could.
