Home Depot responds to Thanksgiving boycott

Home Depot has responded to boycott calls, after We Ain’t Buying It, a self-described “economic action and solidarity campaign” called for a boycott of the home improvement chain for what it described as “allowing and colluding with ICE to kidnap our neighbors on their properties.”

In an email shared with Newsweek, a Home Depot spokesperson said, “We aren’t coordinating with ICE or Border Patrol.”

Why It Matters

Boycotts are a form of protest that involves putting financial pressure on individuals or organizations and have contributed to progressive social change throughout history.

Since the onset of the second Trump administration, calls for boycotts of numerous big name American companies have become common online, as activist groups have called for promoting corporate accountability, restoring diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and reshaping corporate influence over U.S. economic policies.

1. Tell them to leave the store if they don't have a warrant. And if they don't, they are trespassing. Call local police

They have security guards that would kicl me out if I decided to even take a picture or something. maybe we should all start wearing body armor and facemasks.

It's a lot harder to ban ICE from the parking lot. If they are going after day laborers, they gather in the parking lots. Do you put staff at the parking lot entrance and inspect every car coming into the lot?

No reason for ICE to even bother with them. Is that the logical outcome of the protests?

So yes, if it matters as much as petty theft to them, they'll watch the parking lot.

16. But they don't have someone at the exit checking every person that leaves.

But to be fair they'd probably only need to have staff there early before the day labor leaves.

That said, I doubt they care as much because it doesn't really impact their bottom line as much as theft.

About the best we can expect is non-cooperation.

ICYMI: Home Depot Co-Founder Now “Sold on Trump”

I wouldn't buy an AAA battery from this Stronzo Ubriaco's company.

ICYMI: Home Depot Co-Founder Now “Sold on Trump”
The White House
July 15, 2025

Ken Langone, co-founder of The Home Depot, says he has “never been more excited about the future of America” than he is under President Donald J. Trump. In an interview on CNBC, Langone praised President Trump’s economic policies, leadership, and return of the American spirit.

Here’s what you missed:

• On optimism: “If I told you how bullish I was, you wouldn’t believe it. I have never been more excited about the future of America than I am right now, right this minute, for a lot of reasons. Number one, like it or not, this guy is getting things done … He’s acting presidential. I’m impressed with the people he’s got around him.”

• On his past reluctance: “I am sold on Trump … I think he’s got a good shot at going down in history as one of our best presidents ever … What I’m seeing happening is absolutely nothing short of a great thing. People are walking with more bounce in their [step] — it’s all around … When you made a mistake, admit it.”

• On tariffs: “Initially, my concern was I don’t like tariffs; I like free trade. However, I think — damn it, give Trump credit. His instincts are good. Some of these things need to be fixed.”

• On the One Big Beautiful Bill: “I was worried about inflation and I was worried about the deficit. I think there’s a lot of merit to the notion that it’s going to trigger such significant economic growth that we might see tax revenues going up through the profitability bracket.”

• On foreign policy: “The world is a mess, but I think it’s coming more in our direction than it was. I think that strike in Iran had significant symbolic meaning for the world that America is here and when our interests are at risk, we’re going to do something about it.”

Here are some doppelgangers of the young-ish Caesar.

Seems like an asshole. He was a co founder decades ago. As far as I can tell he doesn't have any current role with HD

This from Wikipedia

Langone has donated $300 million to the NYU School of Medicine and NYU Medical Center (later named NYU Langone Health in his honor); this includes a $100 million pledge in 2018 toward a $450 million program to make tuition free for all medical students at the NYU School of Medicine.

Langone has been a member of the boards of trustees of NYU Langone Health, the Harlem Children's Zone, the Robin Hood Foundation, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He was a member of the Bucknell University board of trustees from 1981 to 1996, he and his wife gave $11 million to the university in 1999, to fund a new athletics center, and approximately $42 million to the university between 2013 and 2017.

In 2019, he donated over $5 million to the Animal Medical Center in New York City.

Home Depot is a publicly traded company - so its owners are people who own stocks or mutual funds which include home depot in their portfolio. These owners include employees who receive stocks or options as part of their benefits. He has no more role now than any other stock owner does, and the percentage of shares he owns is relatively small.

But facts shouldn't get in the way of righteous anger.

(I've debunked this nonsense multiple times - but it hasn't made a dent in the calls to boycott Home Depot)

I don't support boycotting based on no fault by a business. Day Workers just hang out in the parking area trying to get jobs. In my area the day workers have moved to different intersections to avoid the ICE sweeps at HD.

Just sayin...
