A witness in the Sen. Adam Schiff (D-California) case exposed surprising revelations about Trump officials and their attempts to reach an indictment.A witnesss testimony to federal investigators is highlighting the unconventional and sometimes erratic nature of the Trump administrations attempt to prosecute Democrats on charges of mortgage fraud.
Justice Department official Ed Martin, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte and their allies have used direct messages to strangers on social media and out-of-the-blue phone calls to try to build cases against Sen. Adam Schiff (D-California), according to an account given to prosecutors by GOP congressional candidate and real estate agent Christine Bish.
Prosecutors spent more than an hour questioning Bish on Thursday about her communications with Martin, Pulte and others, appearing to focus on whether these officials divulged information about the criminal investigation into Schiff to unauthorized people, she told The Washington Post. A subpoena issued to Bish and reviewed by The Post also shows that investigators appear focused on anyone with whom she communicated who claimed to be affiliated with Martin and Pulte.
Now, her experience is providing an unexpected window into how inexperienced Trump loyalists in top administration positions are wielding their power.

(2,656 posts)it is a very detailed and compicated process in many cases. Because almost all mortgage get sold to the government secondary market FMNA, Freddi Mac, VA etc., the goverment inherits all those records and this guy has reams of records he can troll through at liberty, no subpeona required. He can just point to anything he wants and decide it is suspicious and refer it for prosecution. It doesn't mean there is anything to it. They keep bringing up having more than one 'primary residence', which to a lay person seems like a no brainer. Of course it should be illegal and must be fraud, but it's not depending on the circumstance. One big exception is if you get a new job or are transferred a distance from where your initial primary residence mortgage is located, you can buy a new home where your new job is with a primary residence priced mortgage and you are not forced to sell your prior residence if you don't want to. As long as you can financially qualify to pay both mortgages. Congress peple buying a new 'primary residence' when they move to DC would be an allowed move for employment reasons, and they in particular may not want to sell their other residence because who know how long they will be there. When they eventually leave office, many want to return to their prior home. Not to mention it is easy to make an honest error during the mortgage process, especially one that wouldn't have affected their eligibilty anyway. That can be referred as fraud because how do you prove it was a mistake and not intentional.
It's just sad they are alllowed to do this to people.

(2,656 posts)Which is why allowing someone to troll through them and point to something taken out of context as a crime is reckless (as it is meant to be). Without reviewing the entire file, which few people outside of the industry would be qulified to do, there is know way to know if anything is amiss. All they are doing is slandering people with false allegations that will likely go nowhere but at great cost and pain, and in the end the only thing people will remember are the allegations.
