Idiot of the week: Ex-GOP aide paid to be mutilated and branded 'Trump whore' in hoax attack, say police

A former congressional aide has been charged with lying to police after claiming she was bound, mutilated and branded with the words “Trump whore” by armed attackers in an ambush.

Natalie Greene, 26, was arraigned in federal court this week on charges alleging she staged an elaborate political hoax at the Egg Harbour Nature Reserve in New Jersey.

Police responding to a 911 call on July 23 arrived to find Greene — a law student at Rutgers University who had previously worked for the New Jersey congressman Jeff Van Drew — screaming and crying on a trail, her arms and legs bound by zip ties. Her shirt was pulled over her head displaying the words “Trump Whore” on her stomach and “Van Drew is a racist” on her back.

Prosecutors said Greene had claimed three gunmen had approached her and a friend and threatened to shoot her. She allegedly claimed they restrained her with zip ties, slashing her face and body before writing the messages on her body.

Telephone records showed that on the same day her accomplice searched for “zip ties near me”, prosecutors said. Investigators used cell tower locations to obtain evidence that indicated she purchased the zip ties from a discount store in Ventnor, New Jersey.

How the hell did someone this stupid get into a good law school???

Two days prior to the incident, Greene paid a Pennsylvania body-modification artist $500 to make cuts to her face, neck, back and shoulder using a scalpel, in a pattern she had provided, according to court documents.

Two (possibly rhetorical) questions occur to me here:
1. How messed up does someone have to be to pay a body modification artist to do something like this to them?
2. If the cuts were made 2 days earlier, wouldn't if be obvious to skilled observers (i.e., health care professionals who cared for her in the hospital) that they weren't freshly made?

Seriously, this sounds like an open and shut case. The evidence seems to be overwhelming. Can't you just imagine the testimony of the body mod artist ("Yeah, I made those cuts, she brought in a design of what she wanted and paid me for the work" ) and the doctor who saw her in the ER (No, those cuts were not fresh, they looked like they were made a couple of days before I saw her." )

The stupid, it burns!

If she's offered a plea deal, she'd be really stupid to turn it down. But we already know she's really stupid, so who knows?
