X is now showing people where accounts were registered. Which seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do, unless you are tailoring your site to be a right wind propaganda distribution machine, which X is....... I bet he kills this feature and fires whoever came up with it within the week.

X has changed their policy and now you can see where the accounts are based.

Hereâs an âinfluencer from Texasâ
really baffled at elon's decision to confirm that most of twitter is just a poorly organized foreign influence operation

(51,650 posts)It was for a post about a sympathetic lunchroom lady, but the story sounded too good to be true. The account is from the UAE and the story is fake, probably written by AI. This is an excellent feature on social media.

Check your old gangster movies and TV series.
Even if it's for a moment, it shows what's possible, and in some ways, that's sneaky good bad.

(2,657 posts)They didn't need to before so they didn't try to. They'll figure out something no doubt. Maybe this was even intentional so Musk can have some plausible deniability in the future, maybe thay have something BIG planned. He didn't do it for us, that's one thing he would never bother with.

And who still uses fucking Twitter anyway? Sorry, who still uses fucking X anyway?

(11,584 posts)Should be required by law to show the country of origin for its accounts and account farms should be illegal in the US.
It would fix a lot of this BS.

(13,090 posts)It is a cesspool so nothing can be believed and I cannot see any actual value to it. Many political and influential people are using more than one site to post on and I see that as temporary until people start following other sites. Their opinions and positions are never going to convince the hard core or the "influencers" stationed in another country because they have a paying job to do. X will lose its influence when people stop using it.
