Ethnic Cleansing has a specific definition. This isn't it.

ICE's raids, specifically on that apartment complex in Chicago where Citizens were pulled from their apartments and hogtied naked in the street, are an outrage - but they're not Ethnic Cleansing and they're not Genocide.

Just the 1st, simplest definition of Ethnic Cleansing in search results: the mass expulsion or killing of members of one ethnic or religious group in an area by those of another.

I should remind DU that the Biden Administration deported 271,000 people in 2024. Obama's Administration regularly deported over 300,000 a year. Deportations are normal. Deportations are not Ethnic Cleansing.

What's different now is the belligerance, the militarization, and racial profiling.

The Illinois State governor said that instead of 'fighting crime' they're just rounding up, harassing, and detaining Black and Brown people. His words, not mine.

So presumably the only people committing crime in Chicago are Black and Brown people.
