Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) thinks Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseths recent attempt to flex his power was a total misfire.
Asked about the summit of top military officials that Hegseth pulled together this past Tuesday, Gallego told State of the Union host Jake Tapper it seemed clear that the Fox News personality-turned-cabinet member was throwing his weight around in order to compensate for something.
I think its absolutely ridiculous, said Gallego, a veteran of the Marine Corps.
Suggesting that the gathering revealed how Hegseth and President Trumps administration are looking to use the military for political gain, the senator added, Everything he did at that meeting, he could have sent in an email. He was just trying to, I dont know, show force, and he looked very weak in the process.

Hegseth takes offense and wishes to challenge Gallego to a chug and puke contest.

He openly tells people outside his current target market that they are worthless to him.
He thinks he is always right.
When warned about the consequences of not doing something, he ignores it. Later, when the warned consequence inevitably occurs, the person warning is blamed.
He doesn't seem to remember anything beyond about a week's range.
He rewards employees based on how well they stroke his ego instead of how well they do their job.
He is more focused on sounding important than being important.
He always takes sarcasm and metaphors literally.
He is 5 minutes away during crisis and 5 hours ahead during success.
He is a person from whom you are expecting the unexpected and the unexpected is expected.

(37,486 posts)It's Democratic Senator Gallego, who is a Marine Veteran.
I dislike stupid headlines like this.

(37,486 posts)It's the actual headline from NJ.com that obscures Gallego's identity - as if "Marine Veteran" somehow gives his statement more credibility?
I'm more of a "WTF-does-that-even-mean Police".
