“They refuse to put up polls that correctly show me at 65% in popularity.”

— President Trump, slamming Fox News polls.

As CNN notes, when Joe Biden insisted he’d seen polls that showed him ahead despite the many that showed him behind, it was taken as evidence of his disconnect from reality.

Trump on the economy at 39 percent approving to 56 percent disapproving.
On trade, he’s at 39 approving to 54 percent disapproving

The AP poll has Trump on the economy at 37 to 62.
On trade, 36 to 63.

The Highest Approval Rating Trump has gotten in any poll was 57% on January 24, from Rasmussen (which tells you it was a garbage poll - Rasmussen adds at least 10% to Republican's real polling numbers).

Insider Advantage had him at 56% on January 20. They are as bad a pollster as Rasmussen.

Those have been the only 2 polls all year which had him within even 10 points of 65%, and both were at the very start of his term, and both have dropped off since then.

I really do think, his sycophants tell him he's polling at 65% and he believes them. They've probably learned that he'll get furious if they tell him a poll has him lower than 65%, so they have settled on that as the floor that they tell him.

Meanwhile, in reality, the most recent published poll (in the real world) was from October 3 from YouGov and had him at 42% approve, 58% disapprove. That's about his ceiling from legitimate pollsters at this point. Others have him lower.
