This Supreme Court isnt even trying to hide that they are billionaire/trump schills willing to end democracy. Combine that with a republican party that is totally spineless and to me it looks like theres not much we can do. We dont have the votes, or the courts. With troops on the streets in blue states I doubt that we can count on the midterms. OK, I admit to being extremely pessimistic here, and I dont have any answers. Im hoping that folks who are smarter Than I am can tell me where Im wrong. One thing that does give me hope is that anecdotally, most people that I speak with are concerned about whats happening.

Trump and his allies have pissed off the voters.
Get out the vote. It's waiting to be shown where and when to put a stop to all this chaos.
Congress is the only branch which can do it.

(20,664 posts)I've felt this way since the beginning.
We are going to get our victories here and there.
But they are on a mission.
They essentially ignore every law that they can.
They provoke physically and psychologically.
And they will not stop, because it's the end game for them.
If laws are physically broken, if the constitution is ignored, and if there is NO ENFORCEMENT against this, then the end result will be violent.
I don't know how widespread it will be, or what form it will take, but I can't see anything but a violent outcome.
A systemic physical enforcement is what is needed to stop them. And we don't have that. Repeat...I'm not talking about violent protests, I'm not talking about riots, I'm talking about a systemic physical enforcement mechanism which is backed by the laws of the land, and I just don't know where that is going to come from. I don't see that happening.

(20,841 posts)are just "suggestions"
I have a suspicion that one or more "rewriters of the constitution" could go down with L'affaire Epstein. The more privilege some have, the more they want, beyond all norms.
Just a hunch, based on known depravity.
The collapse of many high and mighty could be spectacular, and I hope that real leaders have a contingency plan to pick up the pieces and rebuild.

Trump is not omnipotent, and the states and the people are not powerless.

(593 posts)based on entertainment / advertising futures, the PROGRAMMING side of AI is just as tied to ad money / consumerism and that will also fail as consumers tighten spending in a chaotic who-knows-what-the-fuck-is-going-to-happen environment.
Trump's arrogance will be his downfall.

(18,991 posts)1. Trump is quickly failing mentally & physically.
2. His popularity is waning. His numbers are in the tank.
3. Some Congressional Republicans are beginning to openly disagree with him. MTG is a stunning example.
4. The lower courts and appellate courts seem to be holding.
5. SCOTUS may be lost, but maybe even they have limits.
6. I don't think he has the military brass. We shall soon find out.
7. Governors in Blue States and even some Red States are pushing back.
8. A major network just relented to push back from the public on the Kimmell firing. This was a big deal. Together, we the peple have a lot of financial power.
9. The American farmers are in big trouble & they are turning against Trump. Prices are going to keep rising.
10. Medicaid and ACA medical care is being cut. People's families are suffering, even dying.
11. We're going to win the midterms if Trump & the Republicans don't find a way to cheat. And they're working hard at that.

(36,651 posts)I thought that Trump would do whatever the worst thing was when he was elected. He has proven me right.
Things will only get worse, and I don't know how much a Dem House and Senate can do IF that happens in 2027, can do to stop him. The damage will be done.
I have zero faith in the voters that we will see a full Dem White House and Congress elected in 2028.
