I hope he appreciates the irony...

(77,979 posts)It will actually be a good thing for us. First, the judge is very likely to toss it at the first pre-trial hearing on motions. It is that weak. Second, if pre-trial continues, Mr. Comey's legal team -- reportedly led by Patrick Fitzgerald -- can do depositions with a number of people that the administration does not want deposed. More, they do not want Mr. Comey to testify in a case that is as weak as any federal case could be. Mr. Comey is an honorable man.

(40,110 posts)investigation -- including the unredacted Mueller Report (weren't there *two* volumes?) into the arena of public discourse again ?
Now, THAT would be an interesting development.

(77,979 posts)things that I think is important is "the Russian thing" was an investigation of three people associated in the felon's campaign. The felon was not investigated until the day after th felon fired Mr. Comey. This, of course, is why Mr. Comey hadn't mentioned that the felon was being investigated during the campaign. Lots of people assume that he somehow had, as the felon hints, or that he should have announced an investigation that wasn't happening.
There are a number of doors that could be opened here. And the admini9stration cannot afford even what appears to be a small door, because small doors often lead to large rooms.

(1,586 posts)Like you said. Comey is a man of honor. This fact alone -that Fitzgerald is his attorney, is probably a big reason folks like Bondi are trying distance themselves as much as possible (only as much as would allow her to keep her job, of course)

(77,979 posts)I know that Patrick has been aware of and following the felon's attacks on Jim Comey since May of 2016. That alone provides Fitzgerald with enough to convince the judge -- who is an honorable man -- to toss the case. (I think back to when Nixon said that Manson was guilty, and the problems that could have caused. But the felon is not a student of even recent history.)

(1,998 posts)He isn't an honorable man. He is a man that writes his own PR.
He is honorable in the same way as Liz Cheney is honorable.
I would describe him, at best, as a conflicted man.

(77,979 posts)have the right to think that way.

(5,254 posts)At best, Comey is a conflicted man. He brought this scourge upon us (Trump), at least as much as anyone else (beside Trump himself).

(77,979 posts)I know that many here blame him for the felon's 2016 win. I do not. Just like the winning candidate and their campaign own the victory, the losing candidate and their campaign owns the loss. And just as in sports, it is only the losing side who needs excuses and points the finger of blame elsewhere.

(5,254 posts)refused to surrender the ball if they failed to pass the 10 yard mark at 4th down, it would be the fault of the defending team for failing to stop them? One plays within the boundaries of norms, the other does not. And unexpectedly at that point (2016 campaign).
Funny.
If you want a good example, you have to turn to the Great Sport -- the one that all of life imitates. Almost without exception, the "experts" including sports writers predicted that heavyweight champion Charles "Sonny" Liston would easily flatten challenger Cassius Clay in less than two rounds. Most said in one. Of course, Clay -- who was actually Cassius X before stepping into the ring, but would not announce that until the following day -- beat Liston in a great fight. Thus, all of the said experts had to start making excuses -- it was "fixed," or Sonny was 90 years old.

(9,559 posts)Whereas that fucker Comey verbally indicted Hillary by chastising her in a press conference to announce that there was no grounds to charge her -- one of the MULTIPLE times he broke DOJ/FBI precedent to go out of his way to hurt her.
