And the government will shut down at midnight September 30?
And every senior US military official, including those that have to fly in from their assigned foreign posts will be in ONE ROOM in Quantico, mere hours before the Government shuts down?
Do I have that right?
And the perpetually drunk "Secretary of War" is pretty much ignoring any semblance of OPSEC norms by setting things up this way?
It seems to me like this series of events is not a coincidence, and maybe it's not mere incompetence.
It seems to me like this is a set-up that purposely puts the entire country at unbelievable risk, whether via nefarious intent, or extreme stupidity.
And this is just one more of the unimaginably fucked up things that will happen in the next few days, because this administration is apparently incapable of not going at least one day without facilitating at least 5 fucked up actions per day.
This shit is is crazy-making.

(127,421 posts)Kegbreath hauls in all the senior military officers for what is likely to be a lecture about how they should be manly man warriors who should look all manly and handsome and muscular and hot and ripped and ... um... and anyhow, not woke and sensitive. And get rid of all them wimmin and colored folks because they don't look manly and killer enough. Hoo-rah! And then the government shuts down and they're all stuck in hotels in VA with no way to fly back to their posts or pay for room service. All hell breaks loose somewhere in the world and the generals have to communicate with their troops via Zoom.

(4,364 posts)Seems unnecessary. Is it to get them to all sign some kind of Loyalty Oath? God forbid there is some kind of terrorist attack and they fly a plane into the hotel they are likely staying at. This shivers my timbers for some reason.
