First, there's the primal matter of justice. I don't need to explain that one. We all get it. Those of us who were victims of sexual abuse as kids and have spent years coming to terms with the effect it has on your life also feel there's a personal stake in seeing this justice manifest.
Secondly, it does have a bearing on the current regime. It diverts the focus and energy away from other things Dear Leader could be doing to cause even wider harm.
Thirdly, it amounts to extra weight on the faltering psyche of Dear Leader. as evidenced in his detectable notes of panic when dealing with it. He lies about its gravity, but we all sense his fear and every extra ounce leads to his quicker disintegration and eventual collapse.

(58,838 posts)It is a gross over-generalization to see a single solitary instance of something and then to jump to the idea that all media, "the media", does it.

(58,838 posts)It's comes across as a premise that you believe and not really a question. Then you confirm that you bought into the erroneous premise by stating that you "Wonder how long this has been going on".
If I had stopped watching all news, not even clips on DU, I might have asked "Is that split of Republicans common on the news these days? I stopped watching."
The way to avoid the first and use the second is to always read posts from the point of view of the reader, which you partially did because you added that you don't watch news. Practice makes perfect or, at least, better.
