Bolton will be next. He and Comey were the soft targets.

Trump is counting on the fallout from the left to be muted since they might view Bolton as an insufferable war hawk from the Bush years and blame Comey for mishandling the Clinton email investigation in 2016.

Once that's done, he'll be further emboldened.

He'll go after Tish James, and Adam Schiff after that.

I'm not just speculating. He's openly said that's where he wants to go.

After that, I'm thinking he'll think anyone on the January 6th Committee is fair game. Maybe Fauci. He'll push the "auto pen" theory as a basis to invalidate President Biden's pardon.

And who knows after that.

We're going to a dark place, and fast.

to reduce the fury that we should all be expressing about their entirely baseless, retributive prosecution. I'm not a fan of either of them. But I no longer give a single fuck about Comey's mishandling of the Clinton investigation or Bolton's awful foreign policy entanglements, and I'd be more than happy to be out in front of DoJ HQ with a torch and a pitchfork screaming about these absolutely outrageous, downright Stalinist efforts. If you're still holding a grudge against these guys, drop it right now, because "our" people are next: Adam Schiff and Letitia James are in the crosshairs now, and God knows who else - probably other members of the January 6 committee, Jack Smith, Fanni Willis, E. Jean Carroll and her lawyer Roberta Kaplan. Maybe some Democratic governors like Gavin Newsom. There's the judge in Milwaukee who's already being prosecuted on a bogus obstruction charge. It doesn't matter that they've never done anything wrong; like despots everywhere they start with the target and sift through their lives until they find something that could be twisted into something prosecutable. Stick up for Comey and Bolton as if they were "our" people, because with respect to what's happening now, they are our people.

Fortunately statutes of limitations prevent prosecution of just about anything that happened more than five years ago, which protects Clinton and Obama (which is why Trump was pushing AG Barbie so hard to indict Comey right away), but Biden is still a likely target. And I wouldn't put it past them to fake some recent "evidence" to go after Obama and Clinton, too.

Trump doesn't understand he lost because he had shitty lawyers and was guilty as all fuck. Comey is unlikely to be guilty and will have really good lawyers.

Hopefully, the judge will toss the Comey charges on Day 1 as they were obviously baseless.

But the mere accusation against opponents--and then blaming the judiciary if they don't follow in lockstep--is enough for the time being.

The early and disappointing folding of companies, law firms, and universities was absolutely the wrong response. Comey is not pleading guilty. They are likely to get their ass handed to them in a trial, if it gets to trial. Looking like fools will not play well.

but just as it looks like Trump isn't backing down on trying to suppress or control free speech in the media, he won't stop prosecuting political critics either.

That doesn't matter. The harassment and intimidation is the point, not the vanishingly slim likelihood of a conviction. Comey will have to spend a lot of money on legal fees; his life and his family's lives will be disrupted; he'll be harassed and threatened by MAGA goons; and other people who don't want to go through the same misery will be intimidated into shutting up and obeying the regime. That's why they're doing this.

19. MaddowBlog-'There will be others': Trump eyes additional targets after securing Comey indictment

After orchestrating the charges against the former FBI director, does the president expect to prosecute other foes? Of course he does.

After orchestrating the charges against James Comey, does Trump expect to prosecute other political enemies? Of course he does.

“There will be others,” he boasted. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Steve Benen (@stevebenen.com) 2025-09-26T16:11:05.312Z

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/-will-others-trump-eyes-additional-targets-securing-comey-indictment-rcna233920

Now, the president has successfully orchestrated the indictment of one of his political enemies, former FBI Director James Comey, in an unusually brazen example of corrupting the criminal justice system. What are the odds that the Republican will feel satiated and curtail his revenge campaign?

Roughly zero. NBC News reported:

As he departed the White House for the Ryder Cup tournament, Trump was asked by a reporter who ‘the next person on your list in this retribution’ will be now that Comey has been indicted. ‘It’s not a list. I think there will be others. I mean they’re corrupt,’ Trump said. ‘These were corrupt radical left Democrats because Comey was essentially a — he’s worse than a Democrat.’

Obviously, this was largely gibberish. Neither the president nor those around him have ever presented credible evidence of his Democratic foes being “corrupt.” On the contrary, those looking for evidence of actual corruption should look no further than Trump’s charges against Comey.

Q: Now that Comey has been indicted, who is the next person on your list?

TRUMP: It's not a list, but I think they'll be others. I mean, they're corrupt. These were corrupt radical left Democrats.

Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-09-26T14:11:40.748Z

.......The prosecution is advancing anyway because Trump fired the prosecutor who insisted on following the law, ignored the career prosecutors who did their job, dismissed the concerns of his sycophantic attorney general and used an unqualified loyalist, just days into her tenure, to exact revenge against a former ally who dared to cross him.

MSNBC’s Ken Dilanian reported that within the Justice Department, many insiders believe this is “among the worst abuses” in the history of the institution.

“There will be others” suggests that we ought to append a caveat: this is among the worst abuses so far. Because Comey is hardly the only, or the last, person on Trump’s enemies list.
