The police can lie while interrogating a suspect.

Can Senators lie while questioning a witness to create the appearance of a crime when none exists? Does responding to that question extend the Statute of Limitation for the non-existent crime if a crooked lawyer decides to try to prosecute the witness for telling the truth about the crime that never happened in the first place?

I grew up in Chicago's notorious Summerdale police district. https://academicjournals.org/journal/IJPDS/article-full-text/53B4A4567064

Went to grade school with a guy whose brother was killed while in custody for a drug charge under the auspices of John Burge. https://chicagotorture.org/reparations/history/

He said there were recordings of a conversation she was testifying about, and that those recording proved she was lying under oath.

This was the CDC Director appointed by Trump and fired by RFK Jr.

She stuck to her guns, and it later turned out Mullins was making the whole thing up to get her to change her story.

…really just fantasies. One of my favorites is a law that makes it a crime for any elected or appointed government official to lie in public statements, i.e., presumed to be under oath when speaking publicly. Not holding my breath.
