The dem senators need to agree to a temporary CR bill.

I don't want to give Trump a victory, but it will just hurt welfare, military families and federal workers who are just trying to get by in life. The 2026 election will hopefully right the ship.

Here's what it is:

TANF, or
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, is a state-administered, federally-funded program that provides temporary cash assistance and support services to low-income families with children. The program offers help with basic needs like food, housing, and energy, but it is designed to be time-limited, typically with a lifetime limit of 60 months. Each state sets its own rules for eligibility, the type and amount of benefits, and the services provided, which can include job preparation and childcare assistance, with the goal of promoting work and reducing dependency on welfare.

More than giving people "money", TANF provides education, training, child care, transportation a bit of food stamps in the goal of clients gaining independence. Many of the people in these programs are pretty much the victims of circumstance. I wonder what my former clients think of Trump - I doubt that they're supporters. Hopefully charitable organizations and religious institutions and local governments will take up the slack in services if they're cut.

Voting for a CR does not insure that the Trump administration won't cut them anyway.

As has been proven time after time after time that caving to Been A Dick Donald just emboldens him to demand even more caving.
Nope, Dems need to hold the line here and make it clear that there will be no more caving to this lunatic and his MAGAt criminals.

This is about the only time the democrats have any real power to get anything through at all.
Pain now, or pain forever.

You give Trump an inch and he takes your life.

We need to try a different approach.

BUT Dems need to have a clear simple message right now and repeat it on all channels. If they are not on the same page on this and speaking the same language, Trump will win this battle.

before the gutting of our social net became law.

I wanted to take a stand back in March and many people criticized my opinion, many people felt a shutdown would be blamed on Democrats.

Remember?

With that said, better late than never, would have been much easier back in March but a handful of Senate Democrats kneecapped the majority.

Remember - back in March Krasnov got everything he wanted and Democrats got nothing in return, now Democrats have to try to undo a law.

Good luck Chuck, I'm on board, have been since March.

Lots of people have already been hurt and many more will be if the Trump plan is allowed to continue. This will be a GOP shutdown, they run the government.
