Frankly I don't care what happens to Comey... I doubt if Hillary Clinton does either.
Ironically... the Trump DoJ wants to prosecute Comey for screwing over Clinton!
Details:
The initial leak: In 2016, former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe authorized an FBI official to share information with a reporter for The Wall Street Journal regarding a probe into the Clinton Foundation.
Comey's testimony: During a September 2020 hearing, Senator Ted Cruz asked Comey if he had authorized the leak. Comey stated that he stood by his prior 2017 congressional testimony, in which he had denied authorizing any leaks to the media.
McCabe's account: In a December 2020 letter to the Justice Department, Sen. Cruz wrote that McCabe had told investigators he informed Comey of the leak, and Comey approved the action after the fact. This directly contradicted Comey's testimony.

"just announce you are opening an investigation, and let me and the repub congress do the rest." trump
if i were investigating id want to know what comey expected for election interference and why trump axed him instead of reward.

(12 posts)The leak to the WSJ was about a separate investigation into the Clinton Foundation. It had nothing to do with the email probe/announcement.

(170,297 posts)Comey was an asshole and attacked Hillary Clinton when he announced that there would be no charges on the email issue. Under DOJ rules, when the decision not to proceed is made, there is NO announcement. Comey was an asshole and held a press conference where he attacked Clinton.
This press conference was so offensive and against DOJ policy that the DOJ inspector general called Comey out.
The DOJ's inspector general agreed that Comey "violated long-standing Department practice and protocol by, among other things, criticizing Clintons uncharged conduct," and that Comey "usurped the authority of the Attorney General." https://oig.justice.gov/node/640
