I noticed a Tide ad that was similar to one I'd seen before with a plot line about a child with allergies who was playing detective. I distinctly remember a similar commercial with the same storyline only the child was biracial - mother white, father Black.
Are advertisers whitewashing their ads now?

(3,168 posts)I always liked the sign of our times, in recent years, with multiracial families depicted regularly in ads.

(16,696 posts)If it hadn't been a reboot of a somewhat annoying commercial I remembered, I might not have even thought of it. In fact, I kind of felt like advertising/commercials had normalized a lot of diversity in the past 10 years. But I also know the white supremacists were complaining a lot about them in their own little corners of the word.

(1,981 posts). . . For Choice Hotels. Earlier versions show Key, who is Black, with a White wife and mixed race kids. (His wife IRL is White, and I used to wonder if his real family were featured in the commercial.) Recent versions show him with a Black wife.
