Interracial families in ads

I noticed a Tide ad that was similar to one I'd seen before with a plot line about a child with allergies who was playing detective. I distinctly remember a similar commercial with the same storyline only the child was biracial - mother white, father Black.

Are advertisers whitewashing their ads now?

I always liked the sign of our times, in recent years, with multiracial families depicted regularly in ads.

If it hadn't been a reboot of a somewhat annoying commercial I remembered, I might not have even thought of it. In fact, I kind of felt like advertising/commercials had normalized a lot of diversity in the past 10 years. But I also know the white supremacists were complaining a lot about them in their own little corners of the word.

. . . For Choice Hotels. Earlier versions show Key, who is Black, with a White wife and mixed race kids. (His wife IRL is White, and I used to wonder if his real family were featured in the commercial.) Recent versions show him with a Black wife.
