MA-SEN: Seth Moulton Weighs Primary Challenge to Ed Markey

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), “who has long pushed for a new generation of leaders in his party, is seriously considering a challenge to Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) in the 2026 primary election,” the Boston Globe reports.

“If he does run, it would set up a potentially fierce battle between high-profile members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation as well as serve as a test nationally of the appetite among Democratic voters for generational change. Markey, 79, is seeking another six-year US Senate term and previously served for nearly four decades in the US House before moving to the upper chamber in 2013.”

Even if it's temporary. Seth Moulton isnt my favorite but hes less like to randomly die, which is good.

He’s 79, feels like that is his weakest issue.

Remember Kennedy ran against him last time and lost badly. Markey ran to the left. Kennedy stumbled, came off angry.

I don’t think Moulton can beat him.

I am not a fan of Markey - showboating incident with me early in my career.

It’s way past time for the baby boomers to exit..the days of comity/hands across the aisle are long gone….if Biden isn’t a cautionary tale I don’t know what is…we need the next generation at the helm ..no more playing nice..no more when they go low we go high….when they go low we wrestle them to the ground, boot on their necks, and step down hard ..

And before anyone accuses me of age discrimination I’m 77..

Whether it’s Moulton or someone farther left, it doesn’t matter. I understand power is difficult to let go of, but a time comes to let another generation take over.

I think he should follow Durbin’s lead. Hopefully Schumer does the same and decides not to run again.

Newsom/Schiff/Crockett/Garcia/Acosta/Raskin/Swalwell/Moskowitz/Frost/Neguse/Ossoff..they are the future of our party.. Schumer/Pelosi/Sanders/Markey/Blumenthal/Durbin and the rest of the baby boomers are our past…I’m grateful for their service but they and their Republican counterparts are why we need term limits..
