Aside from joining the crowd on NO KINGS DAY, what are we empowered to do? I know I should be thinking about the midterms, but what if there are too many voting restrictions? Or any elections at all? I know it sounds really negative, but I'm feeling so helpless and hopeless.
If anybody has any suggestions, please jump right in.

(1,652 posts)But, watching Rachael last night with Kamala, and knowing Kimmel is back on the air and he will have Gavin Newsome on his show, plus a video I saw with Egberto (can't remember his last name) but he spoke to an organizer with indivisible about how even if most of the protesters are old white women, and the numbers are not always huge, it makes a difference. They went to Texas to Maxwell's new home and protested there. I've been getting weary of all the hate while protesting in these small groups and resenting that we are so small. But, I also read a post here today about the sleeping giant of america waking up and that also gave me hope. Don't get stuck in one days helpless mood, you may feel different tomorrow. What Egberto said today, it doesn't have to be thousands everyday. Stand on a corner alone the same day and time every week and they will come. 🤞🏼

(40,265 posts)>> Google resistance postcard campaigns for writing. Avery sells postal approved 4x6 postcards (style 5889), that you can run through your printer or you can buy blank cards & hand write & decorate your cards.
>> 5 Calls is an online site & phone app that makes calling your reps easy. They have a list of issues being discussed/voted on & even have sample text for messages. Great to use for your postcards, too!
#2. Join local resistance groups. Invite those in your network to join with you. Find one here: indivisible.org.
#3. Join & volunteer with your local Democratic Party.
#4. Sport bumper stickers & put out yard signs. I had a note stuck in my front door with a message that they really appreciated that I put out a yard sign every day. If I'm out doing yard work, people honk when they drive by.
#5. Challenge those in your network if you hear defeatism. He's doing a ton of damage, but all is not lost. There are some articles of wins that we've had in the courts. We need a list of his losses somewhere on DU.
#6. Protest & invite those in your network to go with you. Offer to help with signs.
#7. Write letters to the editor. If you've ever read the LTTE section, it's not for the feint of heart. People will challenge your views, & IMO if you're going to put them out there, you should defend them too. So it's an ongoing process, one I enjoy reading but not participating in.
Those are some ideas. Like I said we can all do all of them so pick what works for you but commit to it. The 5 Calls app has been really helpful for me!

(635 posts)Encourage folks to check their registration status regularly to make sure its accurate and current (maybe Im just paranoid in the extreme but
you know).
Encourage anyone and everyone to:
Monitor possible changes to local laws and be prepared to follow them to the letter like making sure your registration matches the info on your ID.
I would encourage everyone to plan to vote like its their first time to the polls, even if youve lived wherever your whole life. Take two pieces of mail, ideally utility bills.
Plan to wait or be held up.
Think about what you can do to make other voters comfortable, should there be any kind of intimidation, both official and unofficial.
Our local progressives report problems to social media on Election Day and have people who can respond with appropriate actions to take. If you dont have a similar network in your community, the time to build one is today.
