(99,594 posts)Modern home-schooling, previously a relic from pioneer days, was heavily promoted by a billionaire theocrat starting about 50 years ago. Charter schools seemed good unless you looked at how money was being stolen from regular public schools, leaving them ever further behind. Our school-tax money went to both enterprises. Sending the ill-educated off to interfere in school boards and to lead the charge on cleansing libraries no accident.
So cui bono? Billionaires apparently love for the masses to be debt-ridden (student loans do it for those trying to better themselves) . And ill-educated. And, apparently, chronically sick as well. Its easy to get people to turn on each other misogyny, racism, antisemitism, the festering notion that the poor are getting what belongs to me, me, me.
Sell the masses another electronic toy to massage their brains. Track their every move. Compile all their federal info.
Billionaires Without Borders are not just convinced that democracy has run its course and they should be running the show, but they have convinced a big chunk of the American populace of the same.
And the 40 - 50 year project? The SCOTUS has been captured. The Mad King is giving his rich and powerful backers everything they could dream of. The suffering of ordinary people means nothing. International embarrassment means nothing.

(75,395 posts)One third of Americans voted for Trump. They love him.
One third of Americans did not vote for Trump.
One third of Americans did not vote.
Doing simple math, this means that two thirds of Americans either
love Trump or don't give a damn. This is a definite majority of Americans.
We have to face reality whether we like it or not.

(2,939 posts)Many chose TSF because of this. But we know that this will never help the majority of Americans.

(7,519 posts)A large portion of non-voters and even a significant number of Trump voters are never made aware (for a variety of reasons) of most of Trump's insanity. Not being aware is not the same thing as not caring.
Also, claiming everyone who voted for Trump "loves" him is beyond ridiculous. Plenty of people voted for him who don't like him but bought into some of his lies. Many polls include non-voters and even people not registered. Those polls recently have consistently sown about 60% of people disapproving of Trump. Across some issues, it's significantly more than 60%.
Sorry, but there is overwhelming evidence that more than 50% of the country do not approve of his actions. There is plenty of evidence that people who are uninformed about things he says and does, become horrified when they se and hear things like this speech.

(2,139 posts)so many Americans were on the bottom rungs economically for so long, they believed Trump's rhetoric and he fueled their anger.
They will only see the horrifying failure of the ACTUAL CRUEL man once his policies REALLY begin to strangle them, deport them, frighten them more than they've ever experienced in the past.
As my grandmother used to say, "He who does not listen has to FEEL.

(26 posts)99% of them will never connect those things to Republicans, and will be just as easily fooled by the next Republican (and by their current Senators, Representatives, Mayors, and school board members. Most do not search out information, and even passive viewing of corporate TV & Social media will not enlighten them. Even the Democratic party is unwilling to say "Republicans", or "Corporations"; some are barely willing to criticize Trump.
