I honestly have no idea. I can see him being chastened (for doing nothing wrong). I can just as easily see him being emboldened (after having done nothing wrong).

In this case, one reason is to start a discussion.
Another reason is they are hoping o get cogent replies.
I suspect no one asks questions hoping to get dismissive replies.

(978 posts)Kimmel's show hasn't been cancelled - Kimmel may well "play nice" to a degree (at the bare minimum necessary) to appease the suits at ABC and get a renewal.
