He wasn't fired, CBS just indicated they weren't going to renew it when it expired. He has been on 10 years; most shows, even the most successful ones, usually don't last much longer than that.
Friends lasted 10 years; Seinfeld 9, King of Queens 9, Everyone Loves Raymond for 9, MASH lasted 11 seasons

(3,068 posts)5. Sorry, but Skydance closed its purchase of Paramount (CBS' owner) in August.
Colbert off the air at end of contract is truly a done deal. I doubt we'll see him pop back up on any Skydance/Paramount platform. I'm sure it was just one of many conditions the Trump admin had to let that sale go through.
