Giving them ratings and clicks only feeds their power. Its like the Fox News watchers, funding the right wing. People complain about the MSM yet give the worst of it ad revenue.

(579 posts)However, I will watch what I want, when I want. I don't have the stomach to watch these clown shows, but I respect those who do. They can give us an honest appraisal of what the bastards are up to.

(13,208 posts)I find it a respectable quality to be able to watch lie-filled crud like that.

(2,230 posts)I saw a grand total of less than five minutes of the service, switching back and forth between different channels. That was enough for me to gauge how big of a s**t show it was. I was hoping the stadium wouldnt be packed, but it was. MAGAts have the attention span of a gnat, so I was surprised that they could sit through a four hour performance. And quite the performance it was - fireworks really? TSF was the last straw for me.

(7,182 posts)People who listened wanted to hear what he said next. People who hated him, wanted to hear what he would say next.
We kept the TV off today, didn't want to hear anything about him. But I get it for some, like watching a train wreck, you know you should look away, but can't.
Give it a couple of weeks and he will be completely forgotten.
A friend of mine and I were discussing him, did he actually believe the bull shit he was spouting? Or was he just a shock jock that went too far and it got him killed? We'll never know.
But I agree, the best thing to do is not give any attention. However, easier said than done.

(1,794 posts)I still remember listening to him the week that Robert Bork didn't get confirmed to the Supreme Court. Stern said that he didn't get confirmed because of personal grooming and because his beard made him look too much like King Tut from the old Batman tv show.
The present fascist shitstorm is in no way amusing.

(2,782 posts)I watched around 15 minutes or so. By doing so, did I fund the right wing? And if so.. then how much?
Is it on a percentage of viewing time thingy? Not sure how this works.

(57,301 posts)We complain that the right-wing controls the media. The right-wing controls the media because the right-wing makes money for the media owners. They make money for the media owners because, as with something like this, there are as many of us hate watching as there are of them seriously watching.
How many of them read or watched ANYTHING about Melissa Hortman? I'm going to guess not a lot. And that helped it fall off the front page within days, if not hours.
There is no need to watch these right-wing media manipulations. There will be plenty of ink and video given to them after the fact. We can get as much information as we need about them without giving ratings to the programs themselves.
When we give them ratings, we encourage the media owners to make more of them.

(8,671 posts)...but I did look up and read the transcript of what Erika Kirk said.
Having not seen it, I can't speak to what anyone else said or did, or whether there were fireworks or anything - no idea. But based on the transcript (and again, I didn't see her delivery), her comments were very much about her marriage, about God, about how they worked together as a team, seeing him in the hospital after he died, forgiving the shooter, not returning hate with hate, etc. Pretty much what I would expect at a Christian funeral.
But again, I haven't seen or read anything else that was said/done at the service.

(1,043 posts)Absolutely disgusting, but not surprising.
I am sure you heard Trump's rejection of Erika's comments. "I hate my opponents".
Vile scum trash.
