small comforts - how trump et al cannot actually control the internet because it was designed
to be truly a world wide web......nice bit of history and explanation. by dumping kimmel the network is actually cutting its own throat down the line.

I don't quite understand this incongruity.

As the article portrays, yes, the Internet was built on decentralization, and yes, the Internet is far more valuable and content-rich than broadcast (or cable) television.

Yet....yet...Fox "News" has outsized and stubbornly persistent influence.

Anything you can't control (if you really want to, which is a LOT), you impose draconian penalties for providing/viewing/accessing/saying whatever the government dislikes, via the internet.

I would not advise hanging my hat on the premise that the internet can't effectively be severely restricted given a government will (especially with a staggering amount of AI power at it's disposal) to do so
