As the article portrays, yes, the Internet was built on decentralization, and yes, the Internet is far more valuable and content-rich than broadcast (or cable) television.
Yet....yet...Fox "News" has outsized and stubbornly persistent influence.

(1,636 posts)Anything you can't control (if you really want to, which is a LOT), you impose draconian penalties for providing/viewing/accessing/saying whatever the government dislikes, via the internet.
I would not advise hanging my hat on the premise that the internet can't effectively be severely restricted given a government will (especially with a staggering amount of AI power at it's disposal) to do so
