Should the government shut down?

It is a government that is not working for the people, it is working for the billionaires and oligarchs. It is working great for the Trump family.

But, if the government shuts down, it will be blamed on the Democrats. That is the nature of the media in this country. They always take the side of the corporations and the billionaires. They always have. Now, moreso than ever.

So there is no good decision. Democrats are damned if they do and damned if they don't. But, if they choose not to shut down the government, what is the best way to do that?

In my opinion, they should inform the American people over the next few days, why they are thinking of shutting down the government. They should list their grievances. The present government is simply not acceptable to the Democratic Party or to the majority of people in this country.

The majority do not want a dictator. They do not want their right to free speech prohibited. They do not want their healthcare taken away or having to pay huge increases in their premiums. They do not want masked agents taking innocent people off their streets. The people want unity over division.

If the Democrats do not plan on shutting down this "government", then they should explain why?:

when it was the time to shut it down. Even many unwashed Magats would have been on board protecting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and keeping the Obamacare disbursements.

6. Chuck Schumer went on Chris Hayes back in March

and explained why he led a small minority of Senators to give Krasnov all he wanted in the CR. He told Hayes that Krasnov will burn it all down and then Democrats will win the next election. Well Schumer predicted it, Krasnov gutted Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursements for Obamacare will expire.

The argument today is going to be much weaker for Democrats to shut it down, for reimbursements to Obamacare be extended.

As soon as Krasnov got what he wanted last March he gutted our social safety net, the horses are out of the barn and it will be much harder to undo a law.

I wish them luck, as I said many times in the past for different issues, TIME MATTERS.

The vast majority of the people were behind a shutdown in March to protect our social safety net.

Schumer gave Krasnov everything he wanted and got nothing in return.

IMO the social safety net could have been protected, not trying guaranteed it would be gutted.

when tens of thousands get laid off. Democrats better be prepared now to explain to the American people why voting for the CR will hurt them. It would have made more sense back in March before the Big Ugly Death Bill became law.

and Repugs are leaving town.

They need to turn that premise into a newsworthy event.

Stage a negotiating room or table. Staff it w/ Dems who are good at messaging.

Sort of like a "sit-in". Grab the narrative (for a change).

Ending the funding of this corrupt regime.

My concern is that shithead47 and cronies will assume emergency powers and fuck us all in the face before xmas.

Somebody talk me off the ledge, please.

We shouldn't be in this situation and the blame is laid, with a loud thud, at the gops feet.

But it may be necessary in order to save our Democracy. A shutdown may impact us in the short term, but if we let them defund, deregulate, and dismantle our government, the long term effects will be catastrophic.
