@cturnbull1968
Trump is upset that a contractor damaged the stone in his new Rose Garden and is making him replace it.
Just think how upset hes going to be when Newsom has it all torn up and tossed in a landfill.

And I will help to restore the Jackie Kennedy Rose Garden!
We need to place a commemorative plaque there. The rose garden should be on the historic preservation list!

(20,089 posts)...I'll bet that a MASSIVE volunteer effort would turn out to restore the Rose Garden.
And I DO hope they show Trump's work in its "final resting place," be it a landfill or wherever. Captioned with "MAKING THE ROSE GARDEN GREAT AGAIN." Newsom in his "Newsom Was Right All Along" red hat, giving a thumbs up. The possibilities are endless.

(34,230 posts)We the People want it all restored NOW, on his fucking dime. I want to see him, and his fucking wife, kids, their spouses, and grandchilden provide the labor for restoring the Rose Garden, too. Make those filthy parasites do some actual work for a change.
And, I'm calling bullshit on the fancy marble, or whatever the hell he's claiming. I have little doubt that it's concrete dressed up to look like marble, because he's a goddamn cheapskate who likes to cut corners..

(7,921 posts)But the new White House patio had chairs and umbrella tables that were orange. it looks like he wants that patio space for a bunch of umbrella tables like it's a theme park.
Psychologically it makes sense - he loves being the honoree/headliner in front of a crowd and that's what he's used to.
That's what the ballroom is for - the indoor version of that with less weather interference. The patio is for that so he doesn't have to wait.
Remember how there were always reports that he'd crash weddings at Mar-a-Lago and officiate as a celebrity whether requested to or not?
That's the point of these refurbs that are longer than 3 years since he's planning to stay there - or hoping this is the last place he stays.
Blue-sky thinking way forward I don't think having that kind of space at the White House is a bad thing, but his concept is cramming in as many people as possible.
I hope it gets re-planted as a garden, and then instead of umbrella tables there could be a terrace with a pavilion or colonnade structure as part of it - perhaps matching the columns of the White House with a roof and it could have outdoor tables for smaller events, lawn and garden seating. More designed garden space, less food-court seating.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

(14,530 posts)No matter, limestone is soft, and even travertine will ding or scratch if you drag a heavy iron patio table or maybe an iron patio chair with someone sitting in it across the surface.

(1,079 posts)IIRC, limestone is porous so that big beautiful patio may end up as a glorified sandbox!

(20,089 posts)Daily Beast did an entire feature article on it. In the second paragraph below, the word "RANT" is a hot link to the Truth Social post. As you might assume, correctly, I have no intention of posting a Truth Social link here, but it's right there in the article if you want it:
LANDSCAPER-IN-CHIEF
The president banned a stupid contractor from the Rose Garden after making a shocking discovery.

After disappearing for four days, President Trump took to Truth Social Saturday to inform the public about one thing he did this week: yell at landscapers.
His angry rant about a gardening snafu in the Rose Garden ended with a contractor being barred from the White House following a detailed investigation into a horticultural offense.

"Limestone Plus" is simply a clear coating that is put over brick and concrete and stone to keep it waterproof.

(6,126 posts)I'm sure the contractor would have been happy to do that once he found out about the problem. Good gravy.

(13,897 posts)Hire a contractor. Blame him for some exaggerated problem. Make him fix it and pay for it, plus labor. Fire him.
He has done that for years. Sometimes he sues them if they try to make trouble.

Contractors have insurance for things like this, don't they?
