As her doctors were preparing to start chemotherapy, they determined that she is not healthy enough for it
She is being sent home for hospice care. The oncologist predicts that she has only a week or two.
Thank all of you who sent vibes and healing prayers. I guess the powers of the universe have simply decided to give her a swift end.
She and my brother will "celebrate" 46 years of marriage on Monday.

(15,329 posts)Its difficult time for everyone. Sorry anyone should have to suffer through this. Cancer is a terrible disease. We lost my aunt last, but she fought every day. Then losing my mother this year was even tougher (pneumonia). May she find peace soon and may God be with you all.

(10,921 posts)I hope your brother will have a lot of support when she passes.
I will be sending all the energy I have in the hopes that they will see that anniversary on Monday, and celebrate
(I know it's hard to use that word at this time) together. What a bittersweet ending.
Makes you realize how precious life is.
Holding all of you in my thoughts.

(560 posts)We had hospice with my mother and they were so caring and helpful, assisting as needed, but also giving both space, and support to us throughout the time, so we could attend to her needs as she (and we) chose. Her end was very peaceful and surrounded by loving family. I hope your experience is the same. May her final days be pain-free and filled with love. Take care, and wrap yourselves in Love...

(12,101 posts)Cancer is a terrible disease and the treatments are often just as bad. When the end presents itself, the best we can do is pray for a relatively peaceful and pain-subdued death.
Prayers for your family, your brother in particular. It's a rough, rough road.
