It had to happen eventually,
MAGAT fans of Cracker Barrel turn on the company for changing its logo. The logo dropped the old man and the whip. Problem is - MAGATs are the Cracker Barrel consumer base. The rest of us are pointing and laughing.
Today the MAGATs are celebrating the resignation of the CEO of Target. "Woke means broke." The trouble is, the company turned its back on all its woke merchandise and HR policies a year ago, resulting in boycotts. But wait, the Fox News viewers kept boycotting it too. So everybody stopped going to Target, which, I hate to say this - MAGAT country depends on Target more than I do.
Meanwhile it's August and all the people who pick our food are being deported. And somehow those "34 million able-bodied people on Medicaid" just haven't shown up to work in the fields. Because - surprise! - it's actually skilled labor and very hard work and most people can't do it. (And most people on Medicaid aren't able-bodied either.)
At this point everything the MAGATs do hurts them much more than it hurts us.
When MAGA punches down they punch themselves in the face.

(28,867 posts)Is that stylized extension of the letter k in the logo, which goes on to completely encircle the words, representing a whip?
yardwork
(67,768 posts)I had never noticed it before, but a DUer mentioned it and posted previous CB logos where the "whip" is even more apparent.
And "cracker" can refer to a whip. It could have been an intentional subliminal message. Marketing is full of subtle subliminal messages behind the obvious ones.
Anyway it's gone now and MAGAT are losing their minds over it.

(28,867 posts)At the same time that the rump regime is trying to destroy history at the Smithsonian and elsewhere, MAGAt clowns go absolutely berserk over a change in a corporate logo.

(67,768 posts)They believe that their way is the only correct way.
Thats why they want to limit who can vote. They don't want liberals, minorities, or anybody but themselves to vote because they believe they're right and we're all wrong. America must be protected from us!
They're authoritarian. They don't want democracy. When they talk about freedom it's freedom from anybody else's opinions and laws.
Until recently they had a common enemy - the woke liberals - that allowed them to feel that they were part of a club where everybody shared the same beliefs and values. The election of Trump this time changed that.
Suddenly they're being owned by their own side.

(29,653 posts)And many liberals are in MAGA country, and rely on places like Target as much as their MAGA neighbors. I'm sure it wasn't your intension, but much of this post struck me as classist.

(67,768 posts)I live in the south and I'm tired of MAGATs. I do feel superior to them. I think they're dumb. And mean.
They're trying to destroy our democracy and right now, they're winning. I'm tired of being nice.
I'm turning to ridicule.
I too have majority MAGA(t) family... I am SICK of them all. And have significantly distanced myself from them. I see no need to add to my anxiety and my extreme disappointment in them. I do not need hateful people in my life. I wish them the best and want them to leave me alone. I'd rather be with myself... than close to their illness
In a few months Trump has destroyed most of what I spent my life working for - public health, access to health care, healthcare discoveries and innovations.
I feel grief. I feel anger. What I don't feel is tolerance for evil dumb people.

(296 posts)we were all gonna get screwed royal if Trump and the Republican Party, including House, senate USSC had their way. AND we all recognized that if they corrupted the elections, that the MAGAot Voters were also gonna get screwed royal, and thrown under the bus as THEY outgrew their usefulness.............
Now listen to them all scream like little pigs at slaughter, now that they are all getting screwed also................And all of those MAGAot Voters are still listening to the Republican Propaganda and still swallowing it hook line and sinker......LOL.......it's all being caused by Obama, Hillary, Biden etc etc etc......
We all need to quit saying "TRUMP" and start using the term "REPUBLICANS", because it is the Republican Party and Republican Politicians that corruptly put him in power and more importantly, have kept him there............Driven by the Top 1% uber wealthy, and corporations.............
The Republican Party now has: THE BEST POLITICIANS THAT MONEY CAN BUY...............
The Citizens United laid the groundwork for the future......UNITED CORPORATIONS OF AMERICA to be installed.............and Replace the
United States of America........
I have often said, that the streetwalkers on E. Colfax here in Denver, have higher morals and standards than any Republican Politicians, and especially all these Republican Women surrounding Trump.......
The difference being, that the streetwalkers on E. Colfax have things they WILL NOT DO, for ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY.......

(67,768 posts)Thanks for posting that link. Some of the European settlers in Florida were known as crackers. That term then got extended to refer to southern white people in general.
I have a rose bush in my yard that is known as "the cracker rose" because it thrives in the south.
There's also the term cracker for the tip of a whip, which brings up a lot of dark inferences.
And there's the old timey reference to cracker barrels.
It's possible the old CB logo was playing with a number of those references. Who knows.
What's interesting to me is that MAGAT decided to have a meltdown about a company changing their logo.

(29,142 posts)The inability to think critically is partially a product of a lack of expansive thought as much as it is a symptom.
The brain presents as stunted and useless like a limb without circulation becomes numb and useless.
The smallest thing that challenges their established rigidity and habitual familiarity is perceived as a personal attack.
All because of the inability to see things differently.

(7,978 posts)There were also tons of wild cattle roaming Florida that enterprising individuals could round up and herd to cattle boats in Tampa and places south for export to the Caribbean.
Of course they used whips they cracked to get the animals in line along with dogs. Florida always had decedents of these large, bulldog like animals and they are some very rough, tough dogs hunters have kept going to use on the ridiculous amount of wild hogs present since the Spanish w of course, additions from escaped farm animals.

(2,013 posts)In a move that left marketing analysts, diners, and flapjack enthusiasts equally stunned, Cracker Barrel unveiled what it calls its freshest brand refresh yet.
Gone are the quaint country vibes and rocking chairs, in their place, a vintage-style logo featuring none other than President Joe Biden himself, leaning casually on a barrel and declaring:
Ill have pancakes, coffee, and the Epstein Files.

I have a soft spot for Biden no matter who bashes him if for nothing else my beloved Lina Khan. I am a fairly unenthusiastic person overall..Lina Khan was a rare exception. Google wont forget her too soon

As for the war in Gaza, he followed the standard US position-a position that seems anti-Palestine and anti-Israel in any real sense and mostly pro war profiteer/pro-mercenary.
Thats most positions these days and I despair of anyone waking up enough fast enough.

(2,855 posts)this as among the most ridiculous of outrage reactions.
It's as if they have ran out of other stuff to be pissed about, but we know that's not the case. That's why this one is making absolutely no sense to me. It's a restaurant logo. Is that how they pick an eating establishment?
yardwork
(67,768 posts)I think they've hit peak outrage or something.
I could kind of understand their annual outrage at Starbucks for not having enough of a Christmas theme on their holiday cups. I mean it was silly but it kind of made sense. Sort of.
Turning on Cracker Barrel for being "woke" because the company is simplifying a logo is so absurd I had to pause and talk about it.

(8,864 posts)"If any company changes anything it must be woke." Personally, I would guess that "woke" was the last thing on Cracker Barrel's mind when they decided on the change.
I find it more interesting that this is not the only context in which we are discussing whips and beatings today. They keep coming up on posts about Dobson.
