make no mistake about it, they are against California redistricting, and have made it very clear on their website:
"Dear Governor Newsom, Senate pro Tem McGuire, Speaker Rivas, Chair Pellerin, and Chair Cervantes:
"The League of Women Voters of California writes to express our strong opposition to mid-cycle redistricting for Californias Congressional seats.
Californians fought hard to take redistricting out of the hands of politicians and put it in the hands of the people to ensure that the people can choose their politicians and not the other way around. There is a good reason for that. Our independent redistricting process is one of the best tools that we possess to ensure that all communities have a voice including communities of color and rural communities that have been historically marginalized. Its a critical way for us to promote meaningful political representation and to make headway on encouraging engagement in the face of Californias significant problem with a participation gap that yields an unrepresentative electorate. Furthermore, while the Voting Rights Act offers a degree of protection for historically marginalized communities, it wont protect communities of interest with populations too small to trigger that safeguard. In fact, a partisan map could erode hard-fought gains made by communities through the California Citizens Redistricting Commission process."

Isn't that nice, they want to ride above the fray. WTF do they want us to do, sit back and let the courts handle it? That has worked out real well so far, and if the past is any indication of what the future holds with THIS SUPREME COURT, rest assured that it will either be delayed until after the election, or ruled in favor of the Texas redistricting.
California is fighting back. The California SC already said this was legal what the California legislature was doing to get it on the ballot, so if the thugs take it to the SC and the SC rules against California, they would have to rule against Texas also. In other words Newsom realized we can't wait for the courts to get involved, we have to take preemptive action to protect the integrity of our Democracy by what Texas is doing. We cannot gamble on this supreme court doing the "right thing". They have already demonstrated multiple times they won't.

(4,279 posts)happening is extremist mega donors like Charles T. Munger Jr. is deceptively using the LWV long-standing principles to push their extremist agenda. It is deception at its worst, and Munger is financing the push to defeat California redistricting.

(4,279 posts)fascist agenda, and be skeptical of anything that isn't first hand, unless it is confirmed.
It is going to get very ugly with the upcoming midterms, and we have to fight fire with fire like Newsom is doing.
