NBC News: Gavin Newsom strikes a nerve-and seizes the spotlight-as he

treads on Trump's turf
"The California governor's Trump-like social media posts and redistricting push are resonating with Democrats who are eager for a fighter."

Which one do you like more? The way Newsom has struck a nerve? Or the way he's seized he spotlight? Have to say I love both, but the seizing the spotlight part is GOLDEN.

Is he the only Democrat in the country that can bring it to Trump?

Is everyone else worthless?

That's why I said in my OP that the stealing the spotlight part is golden. Newsom is the only one to do it so far. I was late to the party, but now I am loving it for that reason!

as much as the fact the Democrat establishment refused to get behind them. I guess Washington politics or something.

But Newsom is the leader of a very powerful state, the 4th largest economy in teh world. and he knows he has the people of CA behind him. And Trump can't do squat.

Newsom has more vigor and looks way better than Trump does, anyway. So, energetic and in your face man, talking about Saving Democracy, vs a backstabbing senile, corrupt old pedo, who you gonna choose?

Newsom has galvanized America against Trump and his Nazis, and, if he can keep this up for a month, Trump will be beaten.

Aside, pay attention to (you can't say that on Dailykos) "Trolls" that are lying and trying to derail threads. The latest was talking about Newsom's hair, then their cohorts start chiming in with links to 77 Sunset strip, etc. to try to take the focus off the thread. They are bouncing for Democratic sites like DU, DK, Reddit /r/ Democrats, spouting the same stuff on all sites.. Call them out...

"news" tries to minimize his DOING good for democracy. Democracy enables agency of We The People.

My take is that any corporate spotlight on his personality or his power or rhetoric mostly overlooks his literally doing democracy.

DOING Democracy enables agency of We The People.

We should always remember that while his spotlight feels great, gives us hope (to act in hope, because hope isn't just a feeling)...
It's what Newsom and CA Democrats are actually DOING that enables us to ACT ourselves to preserve democratic power to re-establish rule of law of, by, and for The People.

So the WE in the Party have to take it from there. We will still have to donatedonatedonate, canvass, register, knock on doors, (even talk to religious folk) and fight like hell to GOTV, because no amount of redistricting will automatically win these elections. Mamdani, Warnock and Ossoff are great models of what we have to do against corporate headwinds -- no niggling, grumbling, or falling for any more corporate BS hype about messaging problems.

Newsom’s social media campaign is simply brilliant. By mirroring Trump’s style, he’s holding up a funhouse mirror that exposes just how absurd it all is. It’s not just about seizing the spotlight—it’s about reframing the conversation and triggering that long-dormant instinct in all people to recognize the ridiculous for what it is. Satire has always been one of the sharpest tools against demagogues, and Newsom is wielding it masterfully.
